1. On this Fitzmas Eve we need to read the Story again
Christmas @ Gull Bay ......

The smell of the turkey dinner with all the fixings wafted through
the Crimson River Tavern. Some EDVs were speaking in Yiddish
about the good news from Washington D.C. that had climaxed
w/ George W Bush being removed form the White House.

Rove, Frist, DeLay, Rush, Brownie, Rummy, Cheney, Rice and
Wolfowitz all were in jail. A massive investigation had reveled
not only a stolen election but a rush to war which was done
in large part to allow massive profits for friends of the now
disgraced ex President.

A gentle snow blanketed the ground outside and a fresh cut fir tree
stood by the fireplace and was being trimmed by Crispini
with her extra toys.

The Bay Air family had decided to winter in one of the bedrooms
rather then the cave so the cubs were sleeping in front of the fire
along with a freshly tranq. darted KO.

Newly appointed President Al Gore was scheduled to speak to the
nation at nine PM.

Happy Holidays.

And I feel the warm glow of a Gull Bay Fitzmas celebration, growing stronger.

Deck the halls with balls of traitors,
Fa la la la la, la la la la.

129. Ha! That reminds me of a joke
God has created Adam, and is talking with him about what it means to be human.

"Adam, I have given you two amazing gifts. One is a brain. With it, you can think through all your problems and come up with creative solutions. You will be able to invent marvelous things, write poetry and music, novels - why, you can even play chess, and maybe win! The other gift I have given you is a penis. It will bring you pleasure beyond your wildest imagination - trust me on this."

Adam is pleased, and says, "Thanks, God, for these wonderful gifts!"

"Well, you might not think they're so wonderful," said God.

"Oh? Why is that?"

"Because," said the almighty, "you will only be able to use them one at a time."

BTW, when my daughter got to Atlanta, she found out that WPB closed down again. Now she's stuck sleeping in the airport in Atlanta tonight. She only had about four bucks on her, but some woman in line with her felt bad for her and gave her $20. Ariana wanted her address to send it back to her, but she wouldn't hear of it or give her her address. She said she'd want someone to do the same for her daughter under the same circumstances. There are still some good people in the world.

63. Actually, last night she stayed with someone she knows in
Baltimore -- not at the airport. So, it's her first night sleeping in an airport. In retrospect, maybe she should have stayed in Baltimore, but they told her WPB was open. She also didn't want to keep bothering people to come and get her. I just pray that the airport is open in the morning so she can get home. Although from looking at KO's report, I'm not so sure I'd be in any hurry to get back to FLA.

23. Hi Everybody.
I thought I'd be posting after the show but I just have to chime in.
I don't agree with the theory KO put out there and little Howie Fineman so clearly glommed onto, that Cheney did not know Plame was a NOC when he told Libby and that in this case the 'cover up was worse than the crime.' Both are horrible, the crime and the cover-up, and there is NO way in hell that Darth Cheney did not know that Ms. Plame was a NOC and that he would like her status to be revealed both to punish Wilson and even more likely to blow the cover right off of Brewster Jennings. Also we have the statement from Rove to Tweety, 'She's fair game,' to show intent as far as I can see. There is also the little matter of the 8 redacted pages that were such a threat to national security that Judge Tatel put a reporter in jail because of them, something he would not ordinarily have done. I don't think an accidental outing of Plame is what we are talking about here at all. Just my 2 cents.

125. I'm a little surprised KO floated this idea. Perhaps what's boggling
him is how stupid BushCo was to do something that could so easily backfire. Yeah, in hindsight, it's backfired in a huge way, but I think this administration is so used to getting away with things and so used to "the game" being played out in the media that they think they always control the board. Well, they didn't control the board in Iraq, and for all of the "shock and awe" BS on television, the war's been a miserable failure, and they don't yet fully control the justice system. Ashcroft recusing himself wasn't part of their calculations, and that's what opened the door to the appointment of Fitzgerald. He's been a bulldog on this case and because of his efforts, we got the rulings that made Time cough up Matt Cooper's notes and once that happened, it seemed like everything began unraveling at an exponential rate.

But let's backtrack. If Ashcroft had not found himself in a position where he found it necessary to step out, then BushCo could have appointed a special prosecutor who would have done a plausible whitewash and the story would have been an non-story. I'm guessing that if anyone in the WH thought about what they'd do if Joe Wilson or the CIA counter-attacked, that part of their strategy would be to appoint a "special" special prosecutor and do a little house-cleaning at the CIA.

In the Liars book, he kept saying "LexusNexus is your friend." In fact, it was the primary way he went after the Giant Talking Head.

44. I love Franken, just think he's a better humorist than a radio host.
He's gets great guests though. I usually love it when Conason is on. I tend to listen to Thom Hartmann though during the same time slot. I've been hoping (and sending letters about it) that AAR syndicates Stephania (no, no Stephania) and puts her on in Al's or (please Gawd) in Springer's time slot. Now that would be a great line-up, Steph leading right into Randi (who btw, gave a nice shoutout to DU today).

79. EarlG just put up a GD post on something KO "just said" - already on
Greatest Page with 17 Votes!

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=104x5170071
thread title: If what Olbermann said a few minutes ago is true, they're screwed

It's that bit - something mentioned here upthread that few of us would agree with - Here's what EarlG put in the OP:

He speculated that Cheney didn't know that Plame was a covert agent when he told Libby about her - he knew she was CIA, but not covert. So Cheney and Libby decided to use her to trash Wilson, they got Rove and everyone involved, and they spread it around to reporters. That's why Novak was so blase about publishing his article - none of them knew at the time that Plame was covert. That also explains Rove's comment that she was "fair game."

But then they find out she WAS covert, and they start to shit bricks. So they attempt - rather ham-handedly - to cover up their involvement. And that's where Fitz has got them by the balls; that's where all the perjury and obstruction of justice is involved. What they originally did wasn't necessarily a crime, but when they tried to cover it up, they broke the law.

And when they realized that they were caught, they started ratting on each other. That's why Rove went back before the grand jury, and that's where all the leaks have been coming from recently.

Of course, it's all still speculation, but it seems like as good a guess as any.

118. some people in GD
have nothing better to do with their time than find someone or something to bash. they just aren't happy unless they can tear someone down. :eyes: what a suck way to live.

what ko has come up with is probably the crooks' defense to "knowingly" disclosing classified info, but as i pointed out, it has a hole in it, which any persecutor, er i mean prosecutor (sorry, hanging out too much with my criminal defense friends again  ) worth his salt will pursue.

and yes, we are all speculating at this point & could all be wrong, so why the circular firing squad over this theory?
