A Newbie With Some Questions!

Hi, gang! I just found your board, and I think you're definitely the ones who have the most fun! (Sick humor is definitely up my alley. That's why "Countdown" is my favorite show).

So, I have some questions for ya:

(1) Have any of you actually heard back from either Keith or the "Countdown" staff when you've emailed or written them? Sometimes I wonder if it's worth the effort.

(2) Have any of you actually met Keith? I wonder if he's as witty offscreen as on.

(3) Seriously...do ya think the guy takes enough vacation? Now, don't get me wrong...I love the guy...but this is getting ridiculous. He's got the Regis Philbin work schedule these days!

Anyway, I look forward to posting here. Looks like it's never dull!

boy, that will be easier to say in my head than Muffstser. One of us, at least, has heard back from KO occasionally, but I am not the Fortunate Correspondent. I only drop him a line once in a blue moon and given how much email he must get, I'm not surprised I don't receive a response. The guy's gotta eat and sleep -- oh and there's that job he goes to every now and then. ;-)

2. Thanks for the welcome!

I'm one of those poor, unfortunate souls who lives on the West Coast, so I usually only catch the last ten minutes live. I either tape the show, or watch the rebroadcast.

Wow, someone actually heard back from KO! (I wonder if baseball cards were involved. Methinks that's a good guess).

I can hardly wait till tomorrow for my daily snark dose. Alison Stewart does a good job (certainly better than the Wit-less Alex Witt), but it's just not the same!

P.S. I was trying to type "Muffster" as my user name, but I mis-typed it and couldn't fix it. Muffin is my cat, if you haven't figured that out. :)

3. and here I thought you had an unusually close relationship

with certain baked goods. ;-) What's your kitty look like?

I mostly tape the show and watch it later, myself, because of evening household chores, but every now and then I slink into the clubhouse when there are still folk around.

6. Muffin!

Muffin (a/k/a "The Muffster") is a beautiful, spunky, ten year old Calico that I adopted when sne was about a year old. She's my first cat, so everything she does is a miracle, as far as yours truly is concerned. :)

I think a big part of why I'm so attached to her is that she's seriously deranged. She was raised with a family that had dogs in her "formative kitten years", so she acts like a puppy. Yup, there's nothing like being woken up at 5:30 in the morning by a persistent furball cannonballing on your bed, walking on you, and blasting lamb and barley breath to get your day started.

I think a couple of folks have heard back from KO, but not me. Don't think anyone here's met him IRL. Anyhoo, drop by anytime! I'm usually here during the late show 'cause I get home pretty late. Getting to be here during the live thread's a treat for me!

Nice to see you here! (When I saw your DU name, I thought it might be you.)

We have never a dull moment and there's always someone around during Countdown - sometimes a few of us, sometimes a lot of us, but always someone (even when KO is on one of his way-too-frequent vacations).

Nice to see a fresh face here.

There have been stories told of people who got responses from The Man...but no one seems to know exactly what it is that provokes a response from him, all we know is that they are few and far between and few have received any.

I don't think any of us in the general gang has met him.

But hey, what we get on the show is great...so we're here and we always have a good time. So join us!

10. Answers to your Qs

(1) Yes, during the whole Spongebob is gay scandal from Focus on the Family. If you think KO knows baseball, wow, he knows cartoons too.

(2) No & probably won't ever. & that's ok.

(3) I'm not one to crab about someone going on vacation ALOT, but the timing of this latest one was pretty bad, from a breaking news perspective....hope there's a particularly vicious press meeting tomorrow so KO :spank: (cuz he's still on vacay) can sink his teeth into that with David Gregory :loveya:

Hi, Muffster, and welcome to the KOEB! :hi:
(that's the Keith Olbermann Estrogen Brigade). As mentioned above, we are known for posting floaty-hearts for Keith :loveya:.

Keith has not responded to my e-mails, but then again, I don't send him very many. I know a number of people have gotten responses - it seems he replies to criticism more often than praise.

One of our DU members, Flyarm, knows Keith in real life - she and her husband are good friends with him. She thinks we're precious girly-fans, and once in a while drops a nice post in the group.

So, Muffin is a "fenine," eh? I had a cat like that. Sadly, he died a few weeks ago, but I have two others that keep me occupied.

I'm looking forward to getting to know you - and again, welcome! :)

13. Oh, yeah, I've had many "fenines" myself.

But, well, if you're wondering whether there's some magical thing you can do or say that will get KO to answer your email...the answer is "no." His responses to email seem to be completely whimsical and guided by no pattern in particular. If you get one, good for you. If you don't, you're typical.
