Monday, August 1: I worked out today. Did you?
I got my morning swim in and did not go to the diner for a big greasy breakfast. (That has happened before.)

1. Ok... now you're showing me up too!!!
Yes, I worked out today.

I did 2.0 miles of track work today. I tried to run the first mile as fast as I could (jeez, I'm still slow) and then walked a couple of laps and then finished up with a jog for the rest.

Then I did my upper body stint in the weight room.

I'm going to start to make a push to lose the next 20 lbs, so I'll be religious about my workouts and hopefully better about my eating.

Have a good day everyone!

3. Good work! I admire your consistency.
I think you came out ahead. After a sensible breakfast I had a site visit near an enabling coffee house. I came out with a cinnamon roll. I need to mentally compose myself for the goal I want to reach. Dedication=good. This kind of spontaneity=bad.

2. I did not work out this morning.
I hurt my shoulder Saturday. I think I just over did it last week. Two heavy upper body weight days, packing & moving stuff for a yard sale & I started a new yoga routine that really works the arms & shoulders.
So I took yesterday & today off & it is feeling much better.
I hope I can back on schedule tomorrow.

4. You are wise to listen to your body.
Pushing too hard when you're injured means even longer down time.

5. How did the yard sale go?
Did you get rid of a lot of stuff?

Take as long as your shoulder tells you to take. Don't rush back until you know you're ready.

6. The yard sale went pretty good.
I got our garage all cleaned out, we now have room for our car.
I made about $70 so thats nice.
Now I am exhausted.
It was so weird on Saturday, my shoulder was fine & I reached for something & just about screamed it hurt so bad. Did not hurt all the time, only if I more my arm a certain way. Iced it off & on over the weekend & no paid today.

7. Upper body work with the weights and a 1 mile walk
I'm going to have to stop running for a while. At least until I drop probably about 40 pounds. My knees are starting to hurt after I run. So I will just be walking for now. I hate that, too. I was making very good progress with running.

8. Swimming is easy on the knees if you have the opportunity.
Walking is great exercise, though. I'm thinking of walking the mornings I don't swim.

10. That's easy to morph into a languid breast stroke.
That's what I started with and I knew then swimming must be a very efficient form of exercise--after fifteen minutes I was seriously done for the day. But nobody got hurt.

12. Consider getting swimming lessons.

It's a great way to make yourself workout since you're paying for it and you'll be able to better change up your workouts. And try to get some Glucosamine/Chondroitin with MSM. This is a great supplement to take along with EFA's to help lubricate the joints.

13. I'm so proud of your progress

I think you're doing terrific! If you need to walk for a few days, that is no big deal at all. I like that you simply continue to move.... nearly every day.

(Oops, I didn't notice that you said "until I lose 40 lbs...." I don't imagine you'll do that in a "few days". There are, however, lots of things you can do in the meantime--walk, swim, bike, elliptical...)

15. Thank you
I've worked out every day for almost the past two weeks. My weight fluctuates from day to day. One day the scales will say that I've lost 6 pounds the next day they'll say that I've lost 4. But I have lost weight. At least I know that much.

I've also just started my diet today. Today I will consume about 1500 calories of low fat food. That includes lots of fruit and veggies as well as some lean meat. Another good benefit of not eating out all the time is that it will save me a ton of money. I'm figuring it's going to save me about $200 a month. I'll save another $200-$250 quitting smoking and drinking. That's $400-$450 a month that I'll save from quitting all of my bad habits. I was considering putting in a lot more hours at work because I was going to be in a pinch financially. Now I won't have to do that. Thank God. And to think that it was costing me all that money just to send me to an early grave.

Okay, maybe not "exponentially." But it seems like we're seeing new faces checking in every day. Welcome! :hi:

Today I did Step, Jump & Pump. :-)

19. Yes
Proud to say I did cardio on the eliptical trainer for 35 minutes (forgot my inhaler and STILL hung in there!), then did abs and back. Didn't spend a whole lot of time on them, but just now incorporating resistance in with my cardio.
