Just how high can a squirrel jump?
The feeder has hung for a week. Once the squirrels discovered it, they cleaned it out. Squirrels are cute and all, but I want to see all the cool birds. I actually didn't mind scrounging on the ground for seeds that dropped.

Now that they know how to get on feeder they can eat it's entire contents in a single morning.

Any tips on feeder placement to prevent this?

1. Try moving it out from under the tree
The squirrels will just jump on it. I've seen them make some absolutely crazy leaps to get at a feeder. You could also try a squirrel baffle and try and hang it over the feeder so they have a harder time getting on the feeder, but that probably won't be 100% effective.

You could try one of those supposed squirrel proof feeders with the bar that will close off access to the feeder if something that weighs as much as a squirrel sits on it.

2. I am surrounded by trees
I may try the baffle on top. I really like the location where the feeders are now, because I can watch from desk.

Anything to at least slow them down.

Thanks

:)
