Are any of these anime movies worth watching?
My cable provider has Video on Demand for the Anime Network, but only six movies currently available.

  • City Hunter Secret Service
  • Nadesico: Prince of Darkness
  • Samurai X
  • Slayers Great
  • Slayers Return
  • Tekken

None if them is rated even four out of five.

I'm not paying good money for a crap movie.

1. Ugh. Not really.
-Samurai X is the best of the lot, but it is actually a cut-up bastardized version of a really good show called Rurouni Kenshin. I've never seen the Samurai X hackjob but from what I understand it's kind of unwatchabe.

-Slayers is alright for a laugh but I'm not a fan of the series. It's a goofy fantasy comedy series that started off pretty funny but then TPTB just didn't know when to quit with it.

-Nadesico is comic space opera, I've only seen a few eps of the series and know nothing about the movie (didn't even know there was one, go figure). It's ok but nothing to write home about.

-No clue about City Hunter.

-Tekken. Stay far, far away from Tekken. Anime based on video games, especially fighting games, ALWAYS SUCKS. It's a scientific law. (Street Fighter: The Animated Movie and Street Fighter 2: V are the exceptions that prove the rule)

4. You don't like Slayers? Awwww.
:(

As far as the Tekken deal...my roomie liked it. She's an artist, and watches a lot of pointless action for body and movement studies. I have avoided that one, though.

Agree on Nadesico - I never saw the series, only the movie, and was totally lost (but was probably too, erm, "medicated" to care).

3. Slayers is good for a laugh
But not much depth beyond that. Think high quality US based series.

Your not missing anything if you don't get them.

5. Now hold on...not much depth?
Do you mean the movie(s), or the series? If the former, I can probably agree to that, but not if it's the latter.
