What can I do to make this cartoon better on the DU?
Edited on Mon Mar-08-10 04:36 PM by icymist

This image was taken with my camera. I laid it flat on my drawing table and took the picture right before the batteries went out. I would try taking the image and standing it up on an easel in front of a blank canvas, but the batteries went out. I don't have a scanner hooked up yet. My room-mate just brought me a used scanner, but since I've never used one before I'm hesitant to hook it up. Does the scanner need a program installed? If so, where can I find one? I'm making more cartoons and would appreciate advice on how to make these come out clearer

1. Hi, Icymist.
First of all - Hilarious

I take my pictures outside. I don't have the best indoor lighting and take advantage of the late afternoon sun.

I hope you get better advice from others because your cartoon(s) should be seen.

2. Get that scanner working!
If you don't have the correct drivers get your scanner name and model number and google it with a +Drivers....and install the correct drivers.

Otherwise, outside photography is the best way to go.

3. most digital image programs could fix that up.
if you don't have photoshop, and your scanner doesn't have image adjustments, then get something like gimp.
i don't know the other programs, but photoshop will let you adjust a white point and a black point (in several ways). that would make it really, actually black and white.
a lot of scanner programs have some controls. like if you scanned it as a black and white document, it would probably come out cleaner.
