Photo I took on a walk on Saturday.
A Northern Harrier flying high over the foothills late in the day. It was fun to watch.

1. Very good catch. You can really see the distance between
the bird and the background.

3. I love it when raptors tilt like that
when they are turning. This is a cool shot because of the contrast between the sharp looking bird and the foggy looking hills. Memo to self: always take a camera on walks!

5. I tracked it for a while, taking shots
because I know that the light angles change as the bird flies around - and one cannot tell at the time of the shooting, when it is optimum.

And the best shot was when it was turning - I guess because it was more or less in the same place for the camera to get good focus.

about 270 degrees - so each picture was different from the next. This was the only one at its turn point.

8. Perfect! Reminds me of why you won the contest by a country mile with your
bird shot.
This is such a good catch with the bird having all the attention and the rest is perfect in a supporting role.

For the most part, this was luck with the bird and the background.
In its 270 degree trip, there were many times when it was partly obscured by a tree; or the sunlight was not good.
It helps to take many pictures; the chances of a decent one are higher.
