The Mustangs
Edited on Fri Aug-27-10 09:25 PM by handmade34
as you know I am just learning how to use my camera... I want to enter the dpreview category "Turning Night to Day" ...taking a night shot with long exposure... so I went out last night, about 10pm and tried to get shots of the "Mustangs at Las Colinas". The first shows how very dark it was there and then a few with the long exposure... I have to go back to get a better shot for the contest but I am so darned excited that I learned something new... still need a tripod though... would make this 1000 times easier

edit to add website and really good photos by someone else in the daytime

2. these are beautiful
And what a great experiment. Thanks for sharing before and after. I actually think I am going to take a short photo course here in October, from an awesome wildlife photographer. Seeing these just pretty much confirmed that I need to do that. I think I can spare a couple of Saturdays and thirty five bucks.

I love the way the long exposure makes the sky look in these.

5. I definitely need classes
starting this fall I am taking the pre-requisites for photoshop... 'elements of design' and 'platform manipulation' ...maybe I can learn a thing or two and I have a lot of work towards getting a really good long exposure photo

4. Fabulous sculpture
I like your idea of shooting at night. A tripod, multiple exposures and altering looks to be the ticket to me. Unless they don't allow that kind of manipulation.

6. Good stuff! I love this idea.
How did you shoot these without a tripod? I'm assuming you had a solid horizontal surface to sit the camera on?

7. well
I laid on the ground and shot from there ;-) I gotta get me a good tripod. I have a lightweight one for my little camera but it won't hold my canon

8. Impressive results! I'd be afraid to try that
for fear of not being able to stand up again.:)
