Road trip!
We just got back from a four-day, 1000-mile camping/road trip around southcentral Alaska. The scenery was really wonderful and I took lots of shots, so I'll be posting a gallery at my website. In the meantime, here are a couple of photos from around Valdez.

This is approaching Valdez on the Richardson Highway, the only road into town. It had been raining all day, so we were happy to see this break in the clouds.




This is where the dock of Valdez used to be before the 1964 earthquake and tsunami. After that disaster, the whole town was moved to a safer location. There are still relics from the earthquake laying around, like this old forklift which my husband verified was a 1959 model.
