New snow at Glen Alps
We got a bit of snow this weekend, too -- nothing like you guys down there, but enough to change the landscape a little. It was so beautiful today as the little storm passed that I had to drive up to Glen Alps and get some shots. Glad we have four-wheel drive. :)

Just to the east of Anchorage is the Chugach State Park, which is one of the largest state parks in the country. The Glen Alps trailhead is the starting point for several hikes in the summer (remember when I did Flattop last June?) and Nordic skiing in the winter.

Here is someone skiing up into the hills.

I go the other direction, up the hill to the overlook. These beautiful fences were just completed in the last year or so. They are there to protect the delicate tundra habitat.

This is the view to the southwest toward the Kenai Peninsula.

Looking northwest is downtown Anchorage. The parkland to the left of downtown that runs along the edge of the water is where the Coastal Trail is.

Walking back down to the truck

A little breeze blew up here and knocked some of the snow out of the spruce tree. You can see it if you look real close. I thought it was spots on my lens at first.

1. All are beautiful
But I keep going back to the second one. I love those fences!! I'm so glad they didn't put up chain link. They look really old, and cool.

Thanks.

2. So beautiful
and peaceful.

If I had to pick a favorite I think it would be the last one. Love the curve of the fence.

4. You caught those trees in a snowball fight
They were standing there innocently until they thought your back was turned, then one lobbed off a shot while the other was distracted. Those trees are up to no good I tell ya.

Seriously good photos
