Carbon River Gorge (dial-up warning)
About an hour's drive south of my home, State Route 165 heads up toward Mt. Rainier and crosses the Fairfax Bridge, two hundred feet above the Carbon River Gorge.

All the following photos were taken from the bridge, usually at close to full telephoto length.

(The last of these was taken with the camera pointed pretty much straight down over the edge of the bridge. You may note that the bridge doesn't have a very high railing -- if I didn't have acrophobia beforehand, I sure have it now! ;-) Did I mention that, each time a car went over the bridge, the whole contraption shook quite heavily?)
