SuperMega Leaf Peeping post, with a twist. I took a lot of these photos
in a local cemetery after I hit the local park. I thought there would be a nice 'artisticness' of fall and decline. Here goes

1. The wide angle shots are just killer.
Are these with the 17-40mm? Stunning.

The 6th one down with the long shadows in the foreground is also really compelling, as is the last one, where the lighting is just perfect.

Off to Flickr to see the rest.

2. Yep
17-40mm L. It's a real gem of a lens, does colors for landscapes like nothing I've seen before. These are all hand-held, it's a bitch to lug around a tripod on a mountain bike. One of these days I'll use the mirror-lockup function on my camera.

And thanks.

9. These are really beautiful, DS1.
I love that lens, too. I used it for my shots of the new convention center that I posted a couple of days ago. It's great for not only wide landscapes, but tall buildings, too. :)

3. Sigh...I miss New England...
I was out doing some foliage-shooting yesterday, which meant driving over to the eastern slope of the Cascades (since the trees in western Washington aren't particularly good at fall colors). While the shots I got yesterday were nice, the eastern Cascades vegetation is more along the lines of the Rockies, with lots of yellow aspen and larch, but none of red and orange maples you find virtually everywhere in the northeast. I wish I had owned a D-SLR (instead of an Instamatic ;-) ) when I lived there in the early '70s.

BTW, great photos...although I'm sure you know that already.

6. That's funny, I just shot the first slide
film in at least 15 years yesterday... Velvia 50, and while I don't have it back yet, it was fun to use the tripod again

7. Awww... you made me homesick! :)
Though the foliage in NJ was seldom this good...

I agree, #6 is fantastic, good lines, vibrant colors...

8. Wow
we don't really have much autumn here so I just love to see the scenes from the autumn rich sections of the country. Gorgeous!

10. Nothing like a New England Fall....
but Deutschland was pretty colorful this year, so I don't feel so melancholy.

Gorgeous pics! :hi:
