The Frozen Falls of Minnehaha

These are some shots I took yesterday. The Winter Sun was incredibly bright, and the Falls are in a narrow canyon making for some difficult photography. I would appreciate some tips on filters and camera settings in this environment of mixed deep shadow and bright sunlight.

1. For the bottom two, flash could have helped
it would wipe out that kind of washed look.

2. (smacking forehead) Why didn't I think of that!?
The thought never occured to me to use the flash.
I will have to return and retake those pictures!
I plan on making several trips there this winter, next time I'll bring the flash.
