Kerry Spokesman David Wade Responds to RNC Attacks: Americans Paying the Price for Republican Misdirection
August 10th, 2006 @ 3:45 pm

Ken Mehlman went on the attack today against Senator’s John Kerry and Harry Reid for their comments on the failed policies of the Bush administration’s “War on Terror” today, in the wake of the terrorist plot thwarted in the U.K.. In a statement on the thwarted terrorist plot, John Kerry said earlier today:

“Nearly five years after the attacks of 9/11, we are not as safe as we can and must be. Osama bin Laden is still on the loose. The 9/11 Commission’s recommendations to secure our most vulnerable infrastructure remain virtually ignored. And, homeland security funding has been cut for cities like Boston and New York.

“It’s clear that staying the current course in Iraq is not making the American people any safer at home or abroad, and has hurt our fight in the war on terror. We need to put the focus back where it belongs, and make America as safe as it can and must be.”

Issuing a verbal slap down to Mehlman, John Kerry’s spokesman, David Wade made the following statement this afternoon in response to the attacks by RNC Chairman Ken Mehlman:

“Ken Mehlman’s command of the facts is about as real as the weapons of mass destruction in Iraq. Americans are sick and tired of Ken Mehlman, Karl Rove, and the masters of misdirection who got us bogged down in Iraq with no end in sight, and who have failed to kill Osama bin Laden. If these Republicans were half as good at fighting the war on terror as they are at misleading the American public, we’d be a lot safer than we are today. The day of reckoning for their failed policies is November 12th 2006, and only then will we begin to have leadership that knows how to make America safe.”

6. I really liked both of these statements. They both should be repeated
over and over and they should be supported by a majority of Dem's. I really believe we can take this security issue away from the Republicans, but we have to make sense and we have to stick together. Bush's direction is not working. It has been five years with no significant results regarding our War on Terror. We can not continue the status quo. It is in our country's best interest to seek out a new direction. Senator Kerry has it right, we need to attack the NRC by countering their trumpeted up accusations, with a reasonable response that makes sense and offers an alternative to their unproductive course.
