Maps! (I love maps) What did last years vote look like
Edited on Sat Jul-16-05 02:58 PM by TayTay

This is a map of the United States Election vote in 204, adjusted for population. The regular maps that we see seem to indicate a sea of read with blue on the coasts. It's not that simple. This map allocates votes by region and population. And it includes the color purple to indicate areas of the country where true swing voters live.

Another view, but a normal map

SO, WHAT DO YOU SEE HERE? (How much of Texas is purple? If there is a significant blue/purple tinge to Arizona/ New Mexico/Colorado, how come we didn't carry any of those states last time? Can we get 'em next time. Oh, and Massachusetts is not the bluest of the blue.

I just love maps. All the data, just where it should be and easy on the eyes. (no headaches in the eye.)

1. That first one looks like an ink blot test.
I see a butterfly, a hawk and a phoenix all in the same map. Interesting how the reddest of the red is not in the South, yet we get bashed the most. Sigh. Some of those Western states (not CA, OR or WA) are scary red!

2. And I would remove Florida just makes the inkblot odd
I wouldn't say anything about it. (Okay, it looks like roadkill. I am a terrible person, obviously.)

The red, red, red states in the west don't seem to have much population. (That's why you need both maps. The regular map is very deceptive. Yeah there's a lot of red, but nobody lives there.)

The Northeast is a bastion of, ahm, libs and purples. Sigh! Hey, so is Texas. (I thought Texas was red, red, red. Guess not.)

3. Damn. Oregon looks so interesting on both maps.

The largest patch of the bluest part of my state is--right where I live! Actually, I already knew that. The other "blue" areas of my state don't seem to know that, though. Dorks. I hate living in the Willamette Valley; the economy is trashed, and, as I've seen this week, shockingly, this part of the state is still quite comfortable being openly hostile toward openly non-heterosexual citizens and their children. But we know how to vote, goddamnit.

4. the big blue splotch in the upper-middle
Is where I live. It's a combo of Milwaukee, Madison, and the Chicago area. Lots of urban people there.

6. Another interesting map

This is a map of the colors of the states' Governors are. As we all know, sometimes red is blue and sometimes blue is red. (As for the source - usconservatives.about.com - sometimes you have to take what Google gives.)

7. A very intersting map
There are at least 4 states that have a chance to turn blue (MA and MD among them.)

See, aren't maps fun. I love the big splotchy one at the top. I love that it has sooooo much purple in it. That is very hopeful.
