Nice thread in DU P on Kerry
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=132x1924053

I liked it. Of course, I was being complimented on having the good sense to vote for him and that other Senator from MA (what's his name again? Gawd, it's tough when one of your Senators is just so unknown nationally.)

Ahm, I was stuffily pleased with this thread. It confirmed all my narcissistic tendencies.

in the Kerry thread at Crooks and Liars. Thought you LLL's would get a kick out of them.

Is it just me, or is Kerry getting hotter?

Obviously, his inner goodness is karmically manifesting itself onto his outward appearance. (And he just spent a few days in the nice cool air of Nantucket. It's like having a facial ferchrissakes.)

I am in a wicked good mood. I should retire now before I hurt myself. (John Kerry kicked some Rethug ass today, the AL is winning the All-Star game, I didn't get laid-off today in the Great Purge. All in all, life is good.)

And Mr. Kerry looked positively yummy today. I could just eat him up. (Okay, I usually use that line on babies, but I'm kind of happy, so forgive me.)

Congratulations. I didn't realize it was that kind of "big meeting."

All excesses are excused today. You've earned a little jubilation. We all have.

I think people just don't really stop to look. If they did, how could his hotness be a surprise to them??

On edit: I was getting the vapors too.

So, let me tell you about my evening. We went to a free concert in Christopher Columbus Park in the North End - Boston Lyric Opera's tribute to Mario Lanza (well, it was the North End...) The music was a lot better than that sounds.

But it turned out we were on the Kerry Trail. We parked on Canal Street, which was the site of the Kerry 2004 HQ. We walked past the Union Oyster House, which is the last place I saw him in person, on election day. And on the way home we drove through Beacon Hill. We were going to even eat at the Oyster House, but were driven instead into the North End by the scads of tourists.

A lovely evening, but oddly and unexpectedly nostalgic. Even for all those miserable hours making cold calls (in pursuit of a dream.) It gives me an understanding of why it is that people get hooked on campaigns.

4. Somewhat off-topic tangent, but what the hell...
I got back to work yesterday after a week off, and found out that my employer had merged again while I was out. (We seem to go through a merger at least once a year.) So we'll have a great purge sometime in the next 3 months or so. I've got my fingers and toes crossed that I'll be a survivor as well. I've made it through several previous mergers. But this is the first time we've merged with a company bigger than us. So we'll just have to wait and see what happens. :scared:

Oh, and I'm also wicked proud of my Senators, especially Kerry. :D

5. There seems to be a lot of purging and merging going on
in MA today. Hope everyone makes it through it okay. Oh, and I'll have whatever Tay Tay is having, it seems to be working for her - I think maybe it's a jumbo-size cup of steamy hot Senator. Mmmmmmmm.

6. My sympathies
Sad to say, I wasn't that affected by the purge this time. Here's why:

1997: hired.=
1998: First Merger with the cross-town rival. I got laid off in Nov.
1999. I get rehired in Jan for this person's job who left. Yeah me!
2000 -2001 We are still not profitable. Investors starting to get nervous.
2001. Bottom drops out. We are rumored to have enough money to get through two months.
Still later in 2001. A big corporate Knight rides in with money and commitment and whispers sweet nothings in our ear. We are utterly seduced by the thought of continuing paychecks and give in to the mysterious Canadians with wild abandon. Acquired. One month before 9/11.
2002: The Day of the Long Knives arrives. 1/3rd of my co-workers are purged. I begin to think that Canadians aren't as nice as I had been led to believe.
2003. 1/3rd of remaining staff purged. I visit Toronto and see World Headquarters of 'Engulf and Devour' co that now pays me. Am scared.
2004. 1/3rd of remaining staff purged. They were taken out at daylight on a Tuesday and executed. Good news, I get a new computer.
2005. 1/3rd of remaining staff shot. Good news. We get a nice corporate luncheon and sandwiches while the doomed are only given pizza. Geez, Canadians are tough-as-nails bastards. I'm not eating any more of their bacon, let me tell ya.

And so it goes.
