1. Me too.
I like Hillary well enough, and it's the bashing that gets to me the most. It's not that she isn't worthy of criticism (everyone is), but I'm just sick of all the nastiness aimed at fellow Dems, when it's the Repubs we should be angry at.

4. i think Hillary would do a lot better than many people think
i think she could win also.

i can understand criticism but many times it's just bashing for no other reason than just bashing.

and it's not good if she does end up being the nominee.

6. Agreed.
I think the Hillary bashing is much the same as the Kerry bashing: people just want someone to be angry at.

3. The way things have gone for the good ol' USA
the past four years, we'll be lucky to have an election in 2008. Grrr.....

Okay, I'm going back to work now.

5. I think we're ready for a female . . .
but probably not for Hillary. I think she'd make a fabulous president, but she'd never get elected, and I'd rather she didn't throw her hat into the ring at all. Unfortunately, for a female president to be accepted, she may have to be a conservative, much like England had Margaret Thatcher. I hope, however, that that is not the case.

7. i'm wondering whether what she is doing is for a possible Presidential
run for whether she is just trying to secure widespread support for re-election to the Senate in 2006.

we all the know the right wingers will spend a lot of money and time trying to beat her. and while she is from a democratic state it's not impossible for republicans to win if they are moderate enough. so i'm thinking she might just be trying to secure support so she can win easily and big in 2006 and it has nothing to do with 2008. of course it could be both.

maybe if she was elected President she would govern as a liberal. or maybe if she is re-elected to the Senate by a huge amount she will start leaning more liberal.

8. I doubt it, Bill bailed and went semi conservative,
Hillary and Bill aren't liberals. Bill is more liberal than Hillary is. I couldn't support her. She is too conservative for me and her voting record isn't good. She is reaching out to the repugs. In the primaries, I would campaign against her. Too bad. I used to idolize the Clintom's. I do so no longer.
And I have no respect for someone who changes ideology for an election. Period. One of the things I admired most about Kerry was his consistency. He was never the waffler they claimed.

9. Well, Kerry did do that fundraiser for HC
a week or so ago. I beleive that my esteemed Junior Senator believes that Hillary makes a good Senator and that she should be re-eelcted in '06 and serve out a full and propserous term. (As do I.)

10. Hillary is OK, very flawed, but OK.
She is a good senator most of the time. Just tired of the Dem on Dem roller derby.

11. I don't have any problem with Hillary as senator...
...I just don't want her to run for president. Maybe I'm nuts, but I just don't trust her.

14. If you're nuts,
then I am too. I don't trust her either. Can't give you a solid reason why; it's a gut feeling. So let's both be nuts together.

15. Thank you, TayTay and WhoMeTense...
I love the John Kerry group. Even though I don't hang out in here all that much, it's always refreshing.

16. Add me to the list
She's my senator, and I don't really trust her either. There's just something opportunistic about her that rubs me the wrong way, and with some of her views shifting as of late, it disturbs me.

13. That's okay Blue
It's what we are here for. I agree with you. I have problems with Sen. Clinton and I wish she would reconsider running for Prez in '08. I don't think her husband's time in office was all that productive for the Democratic agenda. He did do the budget amendment that balanced the budget and raised some taxes in '93. However, Clinton bungled the public relations on that and on National Health Care so badly that the Dems have yet to recover. Clinton also carried the water for the whole NAFTA debate, which allowed the REthugs, who adore unrestrained trade, to get away scot free with this. This is a major reason the Dems lost the House in '94.

The Clintons were exceedingly good at getting elected. They were not good at governing. Sen. Clinton has been a good voice for the people of NY in the Senate and she has a moderate record in the Senate. I wish she would stay there and not run as a conservative Democrat. I don't think te party would survive another conservative Democrat in the White House.
