Kerry is a fascinating story in his own right, a man best known today for a not-terribly-glorious performance as a presidential candidate who, since that moment, rather than fading away, has redoubled his work ethic and grown greatly as a leader and a foreign-policy thinker. He was passed over the last time for political reasons and now more than ever if is important to have someone who knows what they are doing in this position. It isn't the presidency, but it is a position which comes with a lot of recognition and respect. And, he has earned it.
