from barackobama.com-- thank JK for supporting financial reform
email from "organizing for America". .
Massachusetts's senators are gearing up to cast their last votes on Wall Street reform tomorrow. Right now, we believe we might have just enough votes to pass this historic legislation.

But we won't know until the final vote is cast -- and we're only certain of one thing: it could come down to one single senator.
That's how close this is -- and that's how urgently we need your help.

Senator John Kerry has been fighting alongside President Obama to pass this bill and needs to know people in Massachusetts appreciate his leadership. And Senator Scott Brown recently said he was supporting reform, but is going to be feeling the heat of Wall Street lobbyists and needs to hear from you.

Call your senators now and let them know you support Wall Street reform -- and then make sure to let us know what they said.

Call Sen. Kerry at (202) 224-2742
Call Sen. Brown at (202) 224-4543

1. I am sure you all can save some time
and maybe money and not call Kerry's office :-).

What do you MA people think the impact of Scotty's reltively decent behavior will be on his future political career in MA? It's obvious that he cannot be a 2nd DeMint and expect to be re-elected, but can he have enough non-D support and still get re-elected?

2. Definately correct in terms of the vote
but it likely can't hurt if Kerry's office here's praise when Kerry does good things. My only comment is that the letter sounds extremely patronizing. Although Kerry had some involvement on the bill (and he did help get Brown's earlier vote), I would imagine that his office would prefer email or calls praising him on things he actually led on - rather than just a totally expected yes vote. It really seems that it might be that they did not want to put out a letter that could be construed as in any way supporting Brown without praising Kerry more.

3. I actually think it's really important to show our support to JK and to
any of our own senators that are doing good deeds -- especially those that might be politically costly). KarenDC once said that the Senate offices hear mostly from the far right, and/or mostly complaints. One reason that they heed the far right is that that's who congressional offices mostly hear from!!
And it has to be discouraging just to get complaints day after day. I would guess that they appreciate a show of support from time to time, but especially now in this special moment of insanity in our country.

FYI, I would not describe Scott Brown's behavior as "relatively decent". . but I'll save my rant for some other time.

4. "Special moment of insanity"
is very nicely out. And in my earlier comment, the emphasis was on "relatively". I find his presence as the junior MA Senator as offensive as ever, but he DID privide a couple of useful votes, and looks like he is going to provide anotehr one tomorrow.

5. Great arguments for calling - they are doing this nationwide
Here's NJ,

"Your senators, Frank Lautenberg and Robert Menendez, have been fighting alongside President Obama to pass this bill -- and they need to know you appreciate their leadership."

Given your comments,I will call. I usually agree with my Senators, but it is true that most of my calls have been when I disagree (all to Menendez when he had holds because of the Cuban policy)
