Absurd Blagojevich VP Claim
They will just say anything to smear Kerry. Of course he was never under consideration for VP. Why would anybody even write anything so stupid? Is there any standard for discerning and printing only facts anymore?

"At points in early 2004, Mr. Blagojevich appeared with Senator John Kerry, the Democratic presidential candidate, at a community center in Evanston and a junior high school in Quincy. Mr. Blagojevich seemed confident, said two former employees, who refused to be named out of concern that their comments could jeopardize their current work, that he would soon be selected as Mr. Kerry’s running mate. (An aide to Mr. Kerry’s campaign says he was never under consideration.) At the time, there seemed only one problem: Mr. Blagojevich was uncertain he wanted to be a No. 2."

1. Just reading the article
In context, it was another episode showing he was delusional. There is no reason anyone would assume that his view had any basis in reality. He was never included in the speculation and he was clearly not vetted, which would have been the first step. The last sentence shows how completely delusional he was even then that he not only considered he was a likely candidate (possibly because he thought a populist, attractive (I assume he thinks he is) Governor from the Midwest would be a good combination with a MA Senator, but that taking it might hurt his aspirations.

What I dislike is that they used the photo with Kerry. Given that he was not even under investigation then, I can't imagine that the Democratic Governor would ever by not invited to a rally. In 2006, two years later, Obama and Emmanuel were key people advising his campaign. Durbin didn't. (I have more problem with the constant listing of Kerry as the top or near top recipient of campaign funds from various industries, without the explanation that it was almost all from employees that the NYT and other papers have done. They really need to exclude the Presidential campaigns from the Senate totals as well.)

2. Well that's not so bad
But I still bet they salivated when they had an opportunity to hook Kerry to any slander that comes along.
