Things that make you go, ah, what? The Boston Globe printed this on the back page of the Sunda Editorial section. This comes from this article in the LA Weekly: http://www.toplessrobot.com/2008/02/the_10_star_wars_toys_that_look_like_celebrities.php

Title: "Senator, the Empire has discovered our secret base!"

Boston Globe article text, verbatim: Not long ago, Topless Robot -- a "nerd-related news blog" published a brilliant item compaing Star Wars action figures to real-world individuals whom the figures strongly resemble. The bandaged bounty hunter Dengar, from The Empire Strikes Back, is a dead ringer for Johnny Cash, for example; whle Mon Mothma, female leader of the Rebellion in "Revenge of the Sith," looks like Laura Bush.

Of particular interest to Massachusetts residents, and Democrats everywhere, however, is the figure based on the Rebellion's General Rieekan, who in The Empire Strikes Back commands Echo Base on the ice planet Hoth. Uncanny, isn't it?

I did not find this. The Boston Globe did and published it. Ah, there is something of a resemblance to someone in MA, but I can't quite put my finger on it and the Globe didn't out-and-out say it. Ah, curious, don't you think?

2. That is crazy beyond words!!!
I'm totally buying one! We've all known for some time that a John Kerry action figure was something the world needs.

We'll just have to manufacture the appropriate accessories ourselves -- kiteboard (on HOTH??), Blackberry, Senate podium....etc.?

We also need a THK action figure. And one for Marvin!

8. Wow - Is that the actor at the bottom
He looks like Kerry, more than any one I've seen. (though Kerry better looking)

On appearance, he would be one of the few people who could play him in a movie. The action figure looks almost more like Kerry.

9. yes, someone said the actor does look a bit like Kerry
but i also think the action figure looks more like Kerry than the actor that played the character.

i think whether someone could play Kerry might be more based on whether they could capture Kerry's character more than physical appearance. the guy who played him on SNL did a very good job but he is from Boston and studied Kerry growing up.

the guy who played the character of this doll passed away a few years ago. i'm not sure what year the doll was made but i can see someone looking at Kerry and seeing a resemblance to the actor and then basing the doll more on Kerry in the end.

Year: 2004

That would make perfect sense as Kerry was a lot in the media during his presidential campaign.
