1. an abandoned thread. Squatter's rights apply

So, what's on your mind today? I was thinking about Kerry's votes on going to war, not going to war and why they make sense. (And stuff.)

But I could be turned to other matters.

Oh, and I won't be posting this weekend. I am going to a convention in Boston from Friday - Sunday. Will post again on Monday. Just in case, well, you know, somebody might, well, you know. like, miss me.

8. I'm afraid I can't post
what's really on my mind today. Even here in our cozy little nest. I am thinking democratically incorrect thoughts, and must sequester myself until my mind is properly cleansed of its politically incorrect notions. That is all.

Sorry you're sick, TayTay. I can say that, anyway!

3. Aw, that is too cute
I wonder if the crowd was able focus on John Edwards' speech or just had to watch the two little ones with the Cheesehead hats. Aw, that's so cute, it's almost criminal. (And the kids call the state that hosts the First in the Nation Primary New Hampster. Aw, geez, that's just so damn darling.)

11. An issues convention
Edited on Tue Feb-15-05 07:58 PM by TayTay
We are amending the (yawn) platform of the Massachusetts Democratic Party. (Read it here: http://www.massdems.org/about/platform.htm) We shall get the platform up on blocks, check it's oil, tinker with it's engine parts and see if it is in working order. Then we shall retire and attend to the real business of the convention, partying with other Dems. Senator Kennedy will be there, looking for supporters and money. (Kennedy is up for relection in '06.) I think that Sen. Kerry will be there as well. (He is a Dem Mass pol, is he not? Then he should be there with the rest of us, eating shrimp and drinking cocktails under the lovely Lowell night sky.)

I anticipate a great day (yawn) arguing about exactly how liberal a platform can be before it begins to scare the people who live somewhere beyond Worcester. (Actually, I live in the purple part of MA. West of Worcester is quite Democratic. My part of the state is not. Sigh! I have a lot of canvassing to do before we get rid of the horrible Rethug Govnah of MA.)

12. TayTay, lucky, TayTay. Photographs, please!
Kennedy frikkin' rules! Do you think anyone can really take his seat away? Well, I don't (knock on wood) think so! Who's running against him? Last cycle Sen. Mikulski was up for re-election and ran against this idiot Rethug call Pipkin (Pipsqueak) who put dumbass ads on TV, lots of lies about Mikulski and some beach house. Of course, Mikulski won and got over 60% of the vote. I don't think Kennedy will get any less than 60%. If ain't broke, why fix it?

13. I don't know who the Rethugs will put up yet
But Teddy K will be running hard. His worst race was against Mitt Romney in '94. Teddy won by 17% (58-41%.) Never take anything for granted. So Teddy K will be at the Convention looking for workers and money.

I think John Kerry will be there, but I am not 100%. This is just an issues convention, not a sexy election year convention. But Kerry appears to be running hard for Pres in '08, so I doubt he would miss a chnce to talk to early supporters. (And people who become delegates to issues conventions are committed folks. If I were him, I'd show up.)

I will take many pics and upload whatever comes out. And post a running report. The con is in mid-May.

7. oooh! I was there!
That was a great day. It was July, I think. Went there with my 21 year old daughter, who after that day put a Kerry Edwards sticker on her car, right next to her Dean sticker. She liked what he had to say about education, which is going to be her field.

As far as those kids, though, they totally upstaged their dad! He had to stop in mid-sentence and look over at them and make some kind of joke about it--everyone laughed, of course. Eventually they were moved back a bit and he continued on. Afterward both he and Elizabeth worked the rope lines. Dan Rather was there too, and taped a stand-up with JE, which was used on air a few days later. We got in close, thanks to our Dem who was running for Sensenbrenner's seat, which is my district. My daughter got a handshake and autograph from JE.

10. Requesting picture assistance
I have scanned in two pics, but they need to be severely cropped back and then posted. Anyone care to volunteer to do so. (One pic is pure geeky goodness, promise.) PM if you can.
