Reposted here for people from MA - MA First Lady treated for depression
I do not know her, but I saw a few interviews and she looks like a very nice and bright lady. Let's hope she recovers soon.

1. I am heartsick to see this
Edited on Sat Mar-10-07 08:51 PM by TayTay
I had a chance to meet and talk with Diane Patrick at a couple of events during the campaign last year. This is a warm, passionate, funny and principled woman who was, and I'm sure is, her husband's first and best advisor and advocate. As the Governor said last year at a supporters event, "If your not going to vote for me before you meet Diane, you are after you meet her."

I wish Diane Patrick all the best and will have her in my prayers this week. I am heartsick to think that the pressure cooker that her husband has entered may have contributed in some way to this illness for his wonderful wife. I hope and pray that Governor and Mrs. Patrick find some time to deal with this family crisis and that the press will give them a bit of space in which to heal.

How awful. This is a woman of such hope and warmth. I am deeply saddened to hear about this and I can only repeat that I wish her and her family the best.

2. Me too.
Got this press release earlier this evening, and it made me feel sick.

Dear Friends,

We wanted all of you to be aware of the statement that was just released by the Governor's office. We hope you will join us in extending our thoughts and prayers to the Governor and his family during this difficult time.

Sincerely,

Liz Morningstar
Executive Director

John Walsh
Former Campaign Manager
Deval Patrick for Governor

Statement from the office of Governor Deval L. Patrick

BOSTON, Saturday, March 10, 2007 -- First Lady Diane Patrick is being treated for exhaustion and depression. The governor will work a flexible schedule for the next few weeks in order to spend more time with her and his family. The family asks for the prayers and understanding of the public. We also ask respect for the family’s privacy at this difficult time.

She has to be a very strong woman - but can only imagine what it's like to have to watch the man you love and respect being trashed for not f***ing good reason by the vultures. I hope she will bounce back quickly, and that they will have the grace to back off.

Have a blog post up on the subject : http://toughenough.org/2007/03/news-to-me.html

5. Ditto
I'm with you on everything you said. All the s___ and pettiness from the local press this past month. It must be so much pressure. I hope she bounces back soon.

4. I'm really sorry to see this
She was absolutley incredible at the rally I was lucky enough to see. I hope she responds quickly to the treatment and support she is getting. Depression is a tough thing to understand and to to deal with. (I have family members who have dealt with depression.)
