1. But Webb won't support Kerry's proposal. He's still against
a timetable for withdrawal or defunding the war.

So, Kerry supports the Warner/Levin resolution? That resolution blows big time, and seems to endorse stay the course. I guess Kerry thinks this can be worked around after the fact?

2. His explanation was in his speech yesterday.

I hate the fact that we are reduced to having a vote on something that isn't at this moment going to change the direction. But every step is incremental; every step is a building block. Every step helps to build the change of opinion we need to achieve in this country, where people will understand the way you best define patriotism and the way you best defend the interests of our troops on the ground in Iraq.

3. Yeah, take what you can get and keep pushing for more.
Sigh! Sometimes I think these folks need to get acquainted with the business end of a cattle prod. It's a wonder JK doesn't lose patience and ring someone's neck. Nah, he's too nice.

4. It's a first step
Sen. Kerry spoke about this in his speech yesterday. It is but the first step of many. As such, take it. It advances the cause that little bit and that is better than nothing. Then, do the next step.

I agree.
