not helping for Katrina!

Kerry said the Bush administration had isolated the United States by failing to cooperate with international efforts on global warming, AIDS, and other issues.

Speaking to workers at a military equipment manufacturer in Newington, Hunter said few of the of the world leaders in Kerry's audience had helped the United States after Hurricane Katrina.
...

If we remember, this was the panel concerning the M.E. and here is the list of panelists:

Amr Moussa, Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, Abdullah Gul, Foreign Minister of Turkey, Ahmed Mahmoud Nazif, Prime Minister of Egypt, Adil Abd al-Mahdi, Vice-President of Iraq, Mohammad Khatami, former President of Iran, and John Kerry, Senator from Massachussetts, U.S., from left, pose for a group photo after a plenary session on the Middle East during the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, Switzerland, Saturday, Jan. 27, 2007. And this guy wants to be president.

I believe Bush turned down aid and he would never have accepted aid from Iran anyway.

Now, who exactly does Duncan Hunter think he is running against. You mean to tell me he couldn't come up with something Hillary,Obama or Edward's said to attack? Only Kerry?

2. Too bad one of the world leaders that helped the United States
after Katrina wasn't Bush.

Duncan Hunter criticizing? Isn't Crudy Ghouliani ahead of him in the Repub field of candidates? LOL!

3. How does he even know which leaders were in the audience
I don't think they have to sign in. I do remember that Venezuela offered help and was refused. Sweeden had offer something like a water treatment plant.

The other thing is the US government HAD resources that weren't used. We are not a small or impoverished nation that needed a huge international effort - we needed our own administrative branch to work.

Also, wasn't the topic the middle east and weren't they dealing with issues of world peace.

4. Daid Wade did respond:
At least seven Congressional committees plan hearings or other oversight on how the $88 billion approved for Katrina relief is being spent, but "we won't have to worry about having a review of those nations' response to the hurricane, because none of them came to the American disaster," Hunter said.

According to federal auditors, 36 countries sent $126 million in cash after the hurricane that devastated New Orleans, Louisiana and Mississippi in August 2005. A report released by the Government Accountability Office in April said another $400 million had been pledged but had not yet been received.

A spokesman for Kerry said Hunter was out of touch with Americans who desperately want their country to regain the respect of the world.

"Duncan Hunter is stuck in the tuba section of the Republican presidential parade, so he'll say anything for attention," David Wade said.
