slam Kerry. This makes me sick. I posted this in response to a Deaniac who boasted of never taking down their Dean sign and refusing to put up a Kerry Edwards sign. Apparently if Dean wins Chair it proves them right. My apologies to rational Deaniacs in this group and to Dr. Dean, but this is disgusting!saracat (1000+ posts) Tue Feb-01-05 10:29 PM

71. I never took my "Dean for America" lawn sign down and I never put up

a Kerry/Edwards sign.

Go Dean

Response to Reply #71

73. That isn't something to be proud of. Dean endorsed Kerry.

And BTW, I supported Dean for chair so consider that before you flame me. I just think boasting about lack of support for our nominee is inappropriate.

75. After Dean dropped out of the Primary, I turned ABB
I voted for Kerry but refused to donate $ and time to his campaign and I'm very glad that I made that decision.

And my reply!

76. Again, nothing to be proud of. A little more time and effort from
some ABBers and we might not be where we are . Thank god I know I did everything I could for our nominee

5. It's unbelievable.
And they're PROUD of it???

Really, there's not an inch worth of difference between them and the wingers. None of them listen to anything but what's echoing around in their own empty heads.

7. You know what it reminds me of?
Fuckin' freepers whose guy "won" but still can't be gracious in victory.

Forchrissakes, Dean supporters should be happy!

I'm a Dean supporter! I think he'll be a GREAT DNC chair! I couldn't think of anybody better for the job!

Why this is somehow connected in some people's minds to hating on Kerry just boggles me.

Oooh! They were opponents in the primary! They fought each other! Dean is good so Kerry must be Eeeeeevil!

Goddamn. It's politics, not Marvel Comics.

14. Don't let it get you down
Let the Deaniacs enjoy the moment. Don't participate in the thread if it upsets you. Consider for a moment what lies ahead.

Running a political party means that you need to reach out to disparate groups and work to reach consensus. It is almost the opposite of running a Pres. campaign. In a Pres campaign you struggle to define one person against a swarm of other candidates. You are pushing one agenda, one (well hopefully one) message and one person.

The Chairman must push other peoples' agendas. He must compromise and practice the actual art of politics in order to convince others to come together and get something done. He will often have to abandon the pure pursuit of principle in order to accomodate what other people are doing.

The lefty freepers have not yet grasped this. They have not thought it through. Dr. Dean is not going to single-handedly clean house. He is going to have to appeal to the various factions of the Democratic Party and convince many people with very different agendas to embrace his changes. He is going to have to reach out to groups that the lefty freepers disdain. When this happens, the lefty freepers will either scream sellout or learn to adapt to real politic. Wait and see.

15. I hate the bashing.
Some of us love Dean and Kerry. They're not mutually exclusive states of mind. Ultimately we're all on the same side ... or so I'd like to think.

16. We are the Derryiacs, InvisibleTouch,
we know good Dems when we see them. At the College of Notre Dame of Maryland, my alma mater, I am glad to report that all the Dean signs were replaced with Kerry signs (not mine some other women and they still have 'em up.
Dean will be a great DNC Chair and maybe prez someday...
Kerry is presidential, too...

17. "Derryiacs" - I like it!
The only "bad" thing about having several great candidates last year, was that only one could win - which made me happy for the winner, but sad for the losers. Could be worse, of course - there might not have been an admirable guy in the bunch, so in that respect we lucked out. Could be better, too - one of them could be in the White House right now. But, that's next on the agenda.

20. Yes, so many great candidates and only one spot
to fill (well two if you count VP, which I do and think Edwards is wonderful). Here's to Kucinich, Braun, Gephardt... everyone except Lieberman , really.

21. I don't get the "primary rivalry" mentality.
I like all the primary candidates. Some I disagree with more than others, but not enough to want to disrespect them at every opportunity.
