OMG this is bad. Germans were involved with the torture.

This is bad for Germany, of course, who have tried so hard to cultivate an image of repenting for their sins for their Nazi past. Although there are instances of Germans whistle blowing, their government lied about it, and didn't try to stop the torture.

Also, Spiegel has a grisly story of disgusting photos Germans took with skulls in Afghanistan:

But doubly so, this was about the Germans having Americans as role models. So let's take Kerry's talk of "moral authority" one step further. Not only is it bad for the U.S., but for the entire world. We really are the leader of the world, whether we like it or not, and we can lead people for good or for evil. And Bush/Cheney have stood up for evil -- torture and disappearing people -- and now Germany has followed us and finds themselves back in a moment of shame. Good chance they pull out of Afghanistan and isolate themselves again as a result of all of this. I've read other articles of sentiment to get out of Afghanistan. These scandals will move it more in that direction.

Thank you, President Bush for soiling the Germans. Thank you very fucking much.
