3. I just submitted a comment. It's a great post and shows that Kerry

and Dems in general really care about what happend on 9/11, and that Bush doesn't. It is horrible that Afghanistan is backsliding, and I say this message should be the Dems' front and center one for the '06 elections -- not just being "hawkish" on Afghanistan but connecting the dots between the Iraq disaster and losing focus on Afghanistan.

19. heh...there's a poster there who thinks Lamont is leading the charge on

the issue because he made the point yesterday. heh...Lamont was getting his chops served to him by Dems who have been speaking to this for a LONG time, and just last Saturday.

Man, some newbies can be so naive. Lamont has GREAT advisors in certain senators watching his back.

JK's response will definitely come in handy when I speak to my brother next time. My bro is sick and tired of the lack of accountability. We were talking last night and he mentioned Tony Snow's comments on Afghanistan during a press conference yesterday. My bro was so upset, wondering why these guys are allowed to just say any damn thing. The main focus of our conversation was whether or not the Democrats would hold these guys accountable.

In all seriousness, I asked it because, while I trust JK implicitly on this matter, he's not up for re-election this year. I would feel so much better about November if more '06 candidates were speaking out, as forcefully, on the same issues.

Kerry wants at least 5,000 additional troops sent there, contending that the
Bush administration has focused on Iraq while failing to respond forcefully to
threats in Afghanistan and Iran.

"The central front in the war on terror is still in Afghanistan, but this
administration treats it like a sideshow," said Kerry, adding there are seven
times more troops in Iraq than Afghanistan.

"When did denying al-Qaida a terrorist stronghold in Afghanistan stop being an
urgent American priority?" Kerry said. "How is it possible that we keep sending
thousands of additional U.S. troops into the middle of a civil war in Iraq but
we can't find any more troops to send to Afghanistan?"
