The Amazing Race 6 Premiere - 11/16 - *Spoilers*
Okay this is on our TiVo to watch tonight and I've been hearing rumblings that it looks like it will shape up to be a good one. Has anyone watched it yet? What did you think?

I probably won't join in the discussion until I have caught up with it. Figured I'd get something started anyway tho.

1. I loved it.
Is there anyone who doesn't hate the husband in the "Married Entrepreneurs" couple? I don't know all the names, yet. He's the one who's always yelling and whooping, and going on about how smart and wonderful he is. He wears the bright yellow coat. I also thought it was hilarious when the wrestler went on about his cramping calf muscles as they were running through Chicago, right after their introduction where he says he they have a competitive advantage because they're pro wrestlers, so they're used to pain.

I'm really pulling for the grandparents. I thought it was great when they chose the ice climb detour. I like the Father Daughter team, too.

5. Oh my God that guy was a FREAK!
Jonathan was a total spaz. I don't understand how he got to be so well off in the first place, behaving like that. And he's incredibly abusive. Speaking of abusive, that wrestler's wife was also right up there.

My favorite line of the episode did come from her though: "It's so cold my implants are frozen!"

I also really liked the father-daughter team and the grandparents. It's such a stark contrast how kind the grandparents are to each other compared to Jonathan and his wife. And I liked both female teams, the Mormon girls and the Queens girls. (Who I just call "The Queens".)

What's with Horn Boy though?

2. Looks like a GOOD season
lots of fighting, some of them were so personally insulting with each other. I know there is going to a couple teams that I am really going to love to hate.}(

6. I couldn't believe how dysfunctional some of these married couples are...
At least with Colin and Christie they hadn't yet taken the plunge and you could hope that they'd each end such an abusive relationship. The meanest couples were married to each other. What's up wi 'dat!?

Surely, Amazing race can't be that controversial. Was it spoilers?

8. Couldn't be
spoilers are allowed since they're in the subject line.

that being said, I'm sick that Joe and Avi lost. I loved those guys.

I'm underwhelmed by Gus. He actually looked disappointed that they weren't Philiminateed.

Can't Jon. I'm hoping Lori, the wrestler, will hear some of his abuse and snap his neck or something. What a complete ass.

I wonder, does going to Iceland right off mean they're giving South America a pass, or are they going to hit South America at the end before heading north for the finish?

9. I liked Joe and Avi, too.
They were obviously crushed to be last. I think their biggest mistake was taking the back roads instead of the highway on the way to the pit stop. As soon as they made that choice, Kevin and I were "No!!!!" That, and they had the worst luck finding that buoy.

Which team was Gus in? Jon is the biggest ass they've ever had so far, I think. Hellboy's girlfriend putting the regular gas in the diesel was a pitiful moment. I was sure they would lose, then. Didn't someone put the wrong kind of gas in a car on a past season?

12. Gus is the CIA dad
He seemed less than motivated the entire race.

I think the alternate route hurt them, because it brought them in from a different direction, so they hit the main resort rather than the path to Phil.

13. He did
But I guess I can relate so much to the father/daughter dynamic so much. She is just perpetually exasperated by Daddy, and he still sees her as his little girl that depends on him. It's sweet.

16. Yes, it happened
I can't recall their names; it was the middle-aged couple, he was a Viet Nam vet, who came within an inch of winning. They actually drove off with gas in the diesel car, but he soon realized the error. I remember he crawled under the car and drained the tank onto the road, tsk tsk. They weren't far from the gas station, so they didn't lose much time.

10. Love this show!
But I wonder if any of the contestants have ever watched the previous seasons.

Uh ... check that gas tank for signs that say "DIESEL".

Don't waste your energy scrambling for first place. All that matters in the first few legs is that you don't come in LAST.

And, what's with all the "models" and "actors"? I struggled to tell at least 6 of the teams apart Ñ they all look and act the same.

14. You do get extra for first place
Personally I woud just strive to stay in the game, but that extra prize could be a motivating factor for some. I mean, how fabulous is a trip to Hawaii? Even if you never win another leg, you got that. I don't think there is a prize for first place for every leg, though.

I think trying too hard for first place gets some people last. The smart thing is just to play to make it through if you want to win the whole thing.

15. Ooooh! Love this show, too!
My husband and I were so disappointed to see so many models and actors. I get kind of sick of "beautiful people".
