I figured it out!
He's like Gérard Depardieu's character in Jean de Florette "who multiplied rabbits on paper" and assumed that reality would mirror his results.

Google provides knowledge, not understanding or wisdom.

1. I think I know who you mean.
Or maybe I'm thinking of a different Googlus Maximus from R/T. My psychic powers have been pretty feeble lately. Must be those visits to the doctor...

The one I'm thinking of is just incredibly tin-eared. (For lack of a better term.) A non-believer posts a brief message, most often obviously meant in jest. The response is a dry, lengthy multi-linked diatribe that misses the point completely.

At least such posts are often funny, however unintentional the comedy.

2. Unless there are two of them, that's who.
Though I'm not sure that the responses miss the point as much as avoid it.

4. Holy Crap!
Never saw that one, though I shouldn't be that surprised that a regular theist in R/T is proud about arguing like a Republican. They do it as a mattter of course.

6. Holy Shit.
A confession of guilt. Priceless. Notice he didn't say it yields anything worthwhile for the discussion.

12. It kind of gives a different perspective knowing
that he isn't writing in good faith when he does that. (I believe they assign that the name of a brutish, awful creature that lives under bridges in folklore, but the actual word escapes me at present.) I have to reconsider the way I respond to him when he does that. It seems foolish to give a serious response now that I know that he's only doing that to muddy the waters.

9. Well, that has a familiar aroma
Not as pungent without the supercilious rot about "shedding light" and "productive discussion", though.

13. Good work.
I thought that Darkstar made a really good post, albeit with a painfully obvious point. (Seriously, chastising somebody for disagreeing with somebody whom he thinks is wrong? That, without exaggeration, may rank as the single stupidest statement I have ever read.) The other guy's response was mean-spirited and irrelevant. It's disappointing though not, at this point, surprising.

14. Sometimes I feel the need to play Captain Obvious.
Usually when General Disarray and Admiral Oblivious are making too many appearances.

(Yes, those nicknames can be directly tied to R/T posters. :))

16. When you say "posters," you mean multiple posters for each nickname, right?
Sockpuppets not necessisarily withstanding.

Come to think of it, both nicknames can be applied simultaneously to individual posters.

15. "I don't know nothin' 'bout stealin' no crosses, Miz Scarlett..."
Edited on Wed May-12-10 01:19 AM by onager
Thread in which the House Atheists admonish the rest of us to "pick our battles" etc. And don't be uppity toward the believers!

Most of the usual suspects show up with their usual arguments. I don't think they've conjured up Stalin yet, but I'm sure he'll be along soon.

(I almost hated typing that Subject line, but couldn't resist. Poor Butterfly McQueen, who got stuck delivering that line of dialogue, was a life-long atheist.)

17. That thread is a great example of 'progressive Christians' trying to have it both ways.
"Our religious symbol was stolen! The outrage! It must have been atheists!"

"The cross is a secular symbol, not a religious one. You atheists shouldn't have a problem with it plastered everywhere."

That and the acknowledgment in the belief that criticizing religion online is exactly the same as committing criminal acts. I especially enjoyed the tongue-in-cheek warning about giving us ideas about other criminal acts that we'll *obviously* commit.
