Could a Gore-Edwards ticket win in the South?
Edited on Sun Nov-28-04 08:24 PM by Radical Activist
The Kerry campaign didn't seriously compete in a single Southern state. Obviously we can't afford to do that again. I've been wondering if these two could pick up one or two southern states. If not with Edwards, could Gore and another Southerner do it? Who?

1. Warner, perhaps?
Edwards doesn't have enough experience, and I don't think he's well-liked in NC because he started running for President without completing a term as Senator. Warner has fewer overall years in government, methinks, but Virginia has term limits and in general "Governor" sounds more impressive than "Senator."

2. Yep, I was thinking Warner, also...
...I've just never seen that Edwards brought that much, if anything, to the ticket. And in retrospect, I don't think Kerry hardly got one vote, because of Edwards being his running mate. And he certainly didn't do a thing electorally for Kerry.

6. Leyton
It wouldn't matter if he had wait until his term was out,North Carolina goes republican on a national ticket...The south is going to have to do some hurting before they wake up and vote for what is good for them , instead of voting for someone that says he is a R/R

7. I think they are seen as damaged goods
I think a governor is the best bet. Too much baggage from a senator.
