Soldier hurt in accidental shooting at DrumStaff report

A 10th Mountain Division soldier was injured Wednesday at Fort Drum, N.Y., when another soldier’s personal handgun accidentally discharged in a barracks room, the Army announced in a press release.
The injured soldier, who is assigned to the 3rd Brigade Combat Team, was shot in the upper torso sometime before 10 p.m. He was taken to Samaritan Medical Center in Watertown, where he continues to receive treatment for nonlife-threatening injuries, the release stated.
Fort Drum Military Police responded to the incident and confiscated the weapon and ammunition.
The soldier who owns the weapon is under the control of his chain of command pending the results of an investigation.
