More 4th ID soldiers arriving home from Iraq
Staff report
Posted : Thursday Mar 12, 2009 19:55:14 EDT

Homecoming ceremonies will continue Friday at Fort Hood, Texas, where another 400 soldiers from the 4th Infantry Division’s 1st Brigade Combat Team arrived from Iraq, about two months earlier than their originally scheduled 15-month rotation.

Their redeployment means that about half the brigade’s approximately 3,500 soldiers are home. More than 1,000 soldiers from the division’s Special Troops Battalion began arriving in mid-January and continued redeploying through February.

Close to 1,000 soldiers assigned to division headquarters redeployed in January and held a ceremony Feb. 11 to uncase the division colors in conjunction with a welcome home feast for the STB soldiers.

The division’s 2nd BCT is next in line to redeploy from Iraq.

The division is scheduled to move to Fort Carson, Colo., this summer where its 3rd and 4th BCTs are stationed.
