ANCHORAGE, Alaska — A 19-year-old California soldier assigned to Fort Richardson in Anchorage died in a car crash on the Tok Cutoff.

Alaska State Troopers say Travis Foster of Squaw Valley, Calif., was driving north Sunday night at Mile 18 when he crossed the centerline into the path of a Freightliner semi driven by 46-year-old Ronald Auzenne of Lacey, Wash.

Foster was pronounced dead at the scene. His car was demolished. Auzenne was not injured.

The Tok Cutoff connects the Alaska and Richardson highways between Tok and Gakona.
