WEST HARTFORD, Conn. — West Hartford police say they have arrested an 18-year-old man who allegedly posed as an Army sergeant while trying to cash a fraudulent $40,000 check at a local bank.
Police say Orlando Ramos-Cabrera of Hartford also bought a new car with a bad check at an East Hartford dealership before he was arrested Thursday.
Ramos-Cabrera is charged with larceny and illegal use of a uniform.
Police say he bought an Army uniform and black beret online, then wore the attire and identified himself as a sergeant while buying the car and trying to cash the bad check Thursday.
The new vehicle, which was parked in front of the West Hartford bank, was seized as evidence.
