150 lieutenants to get early release

About 150 basic-branch lieutenants will be approved for early release from active-duty and transfer to a National Guard troop unit under terms of the fiscal 2009 National Guard Combat Reform Initiative.

The ANGCRI was established by Congress several years ago as a means of infusing experienced junior officers into Guard troop units.

Specific eligibility requirements and applications procedures were announced Sept. 23 by the Human Resources Command in MilPer Message 08-237.

All applications must cite the message as the basis for requesting early separation, and include a signed contractual agreement contained in the message.

Separations approved under this program must occur May 1-Sept. 30, 2009. Applications must be routed through an officer’s chain of command by Nov. 30, and arrive at the Human Resources Command no later than Dec. 5.
