Soldier pleads not guilty in Mont. shooting

POLSON, Mont. — A 19-year-old soldier from Bigfork has pleaded not guilty to murder in the New Year’s Eve shooting death of a Ferndale man, Clyde Wilson.

Ronald Petersen, who was on leave from the Army at the time of the shooting, entered the plea Wednesday in District Court in Polson.

Court records say Wilson’s girlfriend reported that someone broke into their home early on Dec. 31 and fired three shots at Wilson, killing him.

Prosecutors say Petersen’s brother, Ryan Gates, provided investigators the information needed to file charges against Petersen, who was arrested several weeks later at Fort Bragg, N.C.

Prosecutors have not released a motive in the case.

1. I would say that this fits in with the job and age.

I hate to be hard on service people as I lived in side that type life for years but they are young men and are taught that guns and force fixes the problems. It is hard to keep this force thing out of the every day pop. so how can one take it out of a place that is based on force as the way of life? Those type people would just go for that type life, I would think.
