Gates slips on ice, fractures shoulder

Defense Secretary Robert Gates suffered a fractured shoulder when he slipped on some ice Tuesday night, the Pentagon confirmed Wednesday morning.

Gates has been examined by physicians and is receiving treatment for the injury, according to Defense Department spokesman Bryan Whitman.

As a result of the accident, Gates had to cancel his scheduled appearance before the House defense appropriations panel Wednesday to testify on the 2009 Defense Department budget request.

Deputy Defense Secretary Gordon England is appearing in his place.

Gates “continues to be able to perform all of his other duties,” Whitman said.

3. Will he get a medal?
Can't make an appearance before a House panel? Hell, I know people with young kids who are off the table in the ER and back to wrangling chores and children in ten minutes.

How many times did he have to trot across the ice before he finally managed that appearance killing pratt fall?

Big wussy.

How many seriously injured troops get put back into the fighting in Iraq?

Gates has no excuse for not sitting and answering a few questions.

4. If he was a homeless veteran they'd let him lay there
and O'Reilly could do a story on how he was on drugs and not really homeless.

5. They should make him stay at Walter Reed.

Perhaps a few conversations with the resident rats will give him a new outlook...
