Compassion
FWIW

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=389&topic_id=6402090&mesg_id=6402090

I'm going through some stuff. We all are. And CONGRATULATIONS #23.3!!!

And I came in here tonight, looking for a hug.

And it ain't just about being outsiders, it's about process.

There comes a time -- like now -- of profound change and examination or appreciation of what went before, when a door opens/closes and a torch is passed;

And when those who are part of the Long March reexamine their efforts, contributions, rewards, the energy exchange. Doesn't really matter the age or who the contemporaries are (or does it?). What matters is HOW FULL OF SHIT are these people that we gotta deal with now? What of what they're saying is Truth and what of it is Marketing?

Some oldsters rockin' on a front porch somewhere, got somethin' to say about that. :spray:

:toast:

1. because the library has it and Deja Vu is still checked out
I have been watching the PBS series "Eyes on the Prize" about Civil Rights. Interesting stuff. The 60s were really wild. In many ways we've come a long way, and in other ways we have perhaps not come that far. I tried to watch Crash too, because it was there, but the DVD flaked out at scene 13.

Compassion is often in short supply

:spray: hfojvt Hope you don't mind me paraphrasing/sticking up for you, recently :pals:

Yep, compassion is the common language that transcends the trappings.

4. I am not even sure where I am
is this a religion forum or an African American forum? I see atheism in the title and that does not seem right since I recently proved the existence of God

It certainly never hurts to have somebody sticking up for me. It is in compassion where I get in trouble too, because I think we should have compassion even for our 'enemies' and that view is not well tolerated here. If you can understand their POV or see them as something besides totally evil goblins, then you are probably a fellow traveller.

3. "I came in here tonight, looking for a hug."
Here ya go! But PLEASE don't squeeze too tight. I could re-fill the Hindenburg right now, if you know what I'm saying!! ((Sorry for being gross but pregnancy is really kind of gross in itself)) :)

Compassion like love is one of those things that is an unlimited resource. The more you expend, the more you actually have to give. And yet, the world is full of closed-minded fools with hearts full of hate and bigotry, who feel that they have the RIGHT to be hateful to others because of what they feel has been done to them. To every person I've come across in life who feels that they have the right to hate someone because "life has been hard to them" I just say "you do realize that the prisons of the world are full of people who think EXACTLY like you, right?"
