Well......I got sucked in again
I didn't want to play out anymore but it seems I can't get away fom it. On new years eve I sat in, at a popular local watering hole, with a guy I play with weekly and tonight I found out the owner want us to play every third thursday at the place. I said OK so I'm slipping down the hole. Not copmplaining but want to share. At 52 I thought I was done with playing out but I guess it's in my system and just what I do. Not such a bad place to be.
Wish me luck.

1. I didn't see the "in" at first and I thought it was a groupies thread
keep rockin! you'll never be done 'til they pry the microphone out of your cold, dead hands.

I'm in the process of putting together a serious band project for the first time in over a decade.

I'm too old for this shit!

3. Go for it. Try to find something new every time.
I've got several years on you, and I'm playing 10-12 jobs a month. I love it; it's keeping my mind young, although my body wants to be in bed by 10.

4. Now it's twice a month.
LOL, the owner now wants me and my compadre to play acoustic the first and third wednesday of the month. Oh well, twice the money and it should be fun. The people coming out will get a special treat, every so often, as everyone in the full band (six piece, two percussion, three guitars and bass) want to play there as a lark. We just added two tunes tonight, Can't you see - Marshall Tucker and another classic Brown Sugar. Sounds great with the acoustic mixed in with the electrics.
I'm looking forward to the gigs.

5. We Go Back & Forth
Mostly we don't want to, and i don't know i'd want to commit the way you did, but we still want to go to jam nights, or open for some other band, or whatever to get out now and then. So, i certainly understand.

6. Yeah, I really didn't want to play out but.............
now that my business isn't so crazy and I'm not so stressed I'm coming around to it more and more. We'll see how it goes after I have a few nights under my belt.
LOL, at least my weekends are still free.

7. Yeah, There's That
Thursday nights would probably be more tolerable. Of course, my concern is whether my system (because of the MS) would be able to handle being out until 1 or 2 in the morning. Might take me 2 days before i could walk normally again.

8. Hah, I told the guy.......................
Edited on Wed Feb-22-06 06:09 PM by Bonhomme Richard
that I had to be finished playing by 11. I'm a old shit and I need my sleep. I work for myself so it wouldn't end the world if I rolled out of bed late in the morning.

9. Now, That's Some Good Negotiating!
G'luck with that gig. Is it an acoustic, "coffee-house" thing or something?

10. It's a local watering hole that................
has full bands in on the weekend but want acoustic on weeknights to draw drinkers. It will be cool when the crowd is used to the 2 of us playing acoustic and the whole band shows up to play. I told the guys they'd have to work for free and they said they already played for free at practice. We'll just shift it to the club.

11. LOL!
Maybe they'll get a free beer. One free beer for the whole band to share! (Thanks to Richard Pryor for that one.)
