new electronic heater works well!
http://www.eheat.us/#

Just using it in one bedroom, which is larger than the 10x10 example they give on the website. So far has kept the room very warm even when the rest of the house gets down to 58. Very glad I bought it!

1. Same experience here....
Our room is 15x15 or so, plus an attached bathroom. We've been turning the heater on only at night because it gets too warm if its always on - and that's with the thermostat at about 50-mumble. (It's been warmish here, so solar heat coming in the S. windows is keeping the house warm.)

I'll buy another for the office, and then we can just move the portable radiator if we're not in bed, working or playing games together.
