Video games keep you young: Study
57 next month and I love FPS games. Good to know I can benefit from playing BF2, HL2, COD2 and the Quake series.

Forget cards and gentle aerobics - the best way to keep the elderly sharp is to teach them to play video games, new research suggests.

Psychology research at Hamilton’s McMaster University shows gamers who spend more than four hours a week playing action video games such as Medal of Honour and Half Life 2 have a surprising array of skills ranging from quick reaction times and good spatial reasoning to a strong awareness of their surroundings and better short-term memory.

4. One of life's great pleasures, delivering the smack-down to the adolescent
a-holes that permeate the on-line game world.

5. Especially if that adolescent a-hole is your own kid!
Not that I know from my own kids (they're 2 and 4) but from clans I've been in. My last clan had a 16 year old kid, who was usually okay but could act like he was 2, and his dad and uncle--they were merciless with him.

6. and cheaters! God how I hate cheaters!
What the hell is the point of playing any game if you have to cheat to win? I just don't understand it.

One of the big reasons I like COD, Punkbuster makes it harder for them to ruin it for everyone else.

7. I'm 35 and still play Quake Arena like a madman.
Edited on Tue Jan-09-07 11:12 AM by gatorboy
In fact, the guy that runs our Quake server just became a grampa. Plus we have a few ladies that play who are in their 30's

My wife, son and I also like our weekend lan parties. We each have our own computers and have them set up for Saturday Halo/Quake Arena Fragfests.

When the wifey upgrades, she can join in on some Battlefield goodness. :)

It was done at McMaster, and we all know that the University of Toronto is the best university there is.

Y'know, 'cause I go there and everything :)
