In 2005...
I was thrown from my mountain bike and immediately paralyzed from head to toe. I had broken my C2 neck vertebra into two separate pieces, resulting in spinal cord edema; most people with this injury die immediately and those that do survive are quadriplegics. Christopher Reeve and I both stopped breathing. He had immediate medical attention. EMS didn't reach me for 17 minutes. Because of the beliefs and energetic teachings that I had learned, believed in, and practiced, I was able to create a phenomenal outcome from this tragic biking incident. Because I knew my body would respond to my thoughts and intentions and because I embraced the interconnectedness of my mind, body and spirit, I am now fully functioning and living an active, fulfilling lifestyle. My story is a testament to the amazing healing power within each of us.

A church in my area is having a workshop led by her in a few weeks. I don't plan to attend.

1. Wrong reasoning; not all spinal fractures, even with edema, result in permanent damage
Many people break their necks but are fortunate enough not to damage their spinal cords in a permanent way. Edema is quite often transient; it increases the *risk* of permanent cord damage, by reducing oxygen supply, but it doesn't always lead to permanent damage by any means.

So Suzette Foster was very fortunate in the temporary though serious nature of her injury, and no doubt in the treatment that she received. I am very glad that she recovered completely. But it is not because she 'embraced the interconnectedness of her mind, body and spirit' and the suggestion is frankly insulting to Christopher Reeve and the many others who have suffered permanent damage to their spinal cords - as though somehow they could have *made* themselves recover if they made enough spiritual effort!

2. Don't let her get near any paralyzed war vets
That could get really really ugly. People like this are not only stupid and ill informed but insensitive to the hatred their non-sense can endanger.

3. I blew a C7 fracture off as a pulled tendon 13 years ago
I never even wore a soft cervical collar, just sucked it up and kept on working.

Not all fractures are created equal.

In any case, I'm sure the power of positive thinking had a lot more to do with her recovery than Mannitol and Decadron did.

:sarcasm:
