How to move a rooted pepper plant?
I've got a couple pepper plants in the garden that I'd like to move indoors at the end of the growing season to have peppers through the winter.Has anyone here ever dug up a pepper plant? How wide/deep do the roots go?

1. For that matter, is it worth trying bell peppers indoors?
I'd put them in a warm place and use growlights, but would it be productive?

2. Here's an article about overwintering indoors.

I've never tried to bring a pepper plant back inside but have had success with other plants like basil. Pepper plants seem to take the available space for roots and you'd inevitably damage the root system but that's not necessarily fatal. If I were to do it, I'd choose the deepest and widest pot that I had and the smallest pepper plant.

3. you don't necessarily have to disturb the root
Just spade quite a ways from the plant, moving a large piece of soil into your planter. Fill in with soil around it.

I've heard of people overwintering pepper plants for years and years. Good way to get a fast start on the next season.
