Three In One
After a week of bizarreness that hit many of us, as a cycle winds down and another begins.

A thread on Jesus/Christ may have inspired a dream image.

The entertaining screed went nowhere. So what?

A striking comment: "While I don’t believe You “saved” me by being nailed to a cross, I do believe you led the way to a better world...."

What's the difference?

I don't get it. I don't have to attach any specific or special meaning to Whatever to not get the point cuz there was no point.

A flippant frippery, an entertaining waste of time, that touched and teased on something meaningful like playing with a worm with a stick and then......... Nothing. No point. No lesson. No meaning. Just "Done now."

I don't get it.

What I know about the Message is that the Embodiment was kinda the point. Make of that what you each will (or will not). "I do believe you led the way to a better world...." and -- nuthin.'

Not that there had to be a point but then I dreamed: an image of the Three In One. It doesn't matter what the image was. It was just that and that powerful. That was the message. Simple.

Some spend so much time fighting over imagery or finding common ground in meaningless pawing at imagery before dropping the subject... the images don't matter, the principles do.

The principles and patterns are fundamental for a reason. I wonder what the reason for all the stubborness about seeing that is?

Tonight the Trinity was on the TV.

1. Have you read about Innana?
She was the model for the Jesus Christ resurrection story. Isis and Horus are the Virgin birth models.

3. She was known as the Queen of Heaven
Inanna, Queen of Heaven and Earth: Her Stories and Hymns from Sumer by Diane Wolkstein and Samuel Noah Kramer

Fabulous read and you certainly get a different view of the world and history. Enjoy!

She goes voluntarily into the underworld and comes back out again. The difference between Inanna and Jesus is that she went voluntarily and he was killed.

in her story, she walks down and meets her sister, the queen of the underworld, Erishkigal, whereas Jesus gets hung and stabbed.

7. Is this a variation of the Persephone story?
Only in this case, the God of the Underworld is female, and Inana goes willingly and knowingly--a much more powerful image than the Greek myth.

Also, is Inana's totem the snake? We do an Inana Dance of Universal Peace where we symbolically "shed our skin" in renewal in honor of the Goddess.

8. Hey, Ayeshahaqqiqa
From what I understand, the Gnostic's Pistis Sophia, Ishtar, and Ianana are basically one and the same. It was the female instructing principle (Zoe or Life, daughter of the Sophia) that entered the snake in the Garden and urged Eve to eat the fruit.

12. Innana was Sumarian
Edited on Wed Mar-25-09 01:58 PM by WhiteTara
and predates Persephone who was kidnapped as a young woman or innocent and was married to the king of the underworld. She was rescued by her mother Demeter who laid waste to the world with her sorrow. (after I wrote Inanna's story, I thought perhaps Persephone could be Ereshkigal...but then I think not.

Innana descends into the underworld because she hears a call:
"From the Great Above she opened her ear to the Great Below
From the Great Above the goddess opened her ear to the Great Below
From the Great Avove Inanna opened her ear to the Great Below"

The moment she opens her ear (means wisdom in Sumarian) she begins her journey or descent.
She too is rescued by her servant Ninshubar. Ninshubar waits 3 days and when Inanna doesn't return, she follows Inanna's advice and pleads with the fathers. Inanna's father is angry that she pursued a direction that wasn't theirs. But her mother's father, Enki who was the god of wisdom, has compassion for his daughter who was in difficulty. Not only does he accept her decision as being of value, he doens't forget her place as queen of heaven and earth and how it would affect others if she is allowed to stay in the underworld; so he creates 2 creatues from the dirt under his fingernails and sends them to Inanna. Because of the creatures compassion towards Ereshkigal Queen of the Underworld, who sent out the call from below and her pain, she offers them gifts of life and procreation which they refuse and ask only for the corpse of Inanna. Once reborn, Inanna only wants to leave, but no one has ever been allowed to leave before. Inanna however is different because she has been reborn in the underworld. Therefore new rules are introduced:
"No one acends from the underworld unmarked.
If Inanna wishes to return,
She must provide someone in her place"

Who will she leave in her place is the question; but, that is another story for another day for it is about devotion, love and betrayal.

The full story was translated by Diane Wolkstein and Samuel Noah Kramer. The book title:
Inanna Queen of Heaven and Earth
Her stories and hymns from Sumar

14. Thank you for your wisdom
This means, of course, that the Greeks took their story from the Sumerians. Thank you for retelling this story.

6. The Sufi Trinity is this:
Ishk Allah M'bood l'Lah-- God is Love, Lover, and Beloved. I think you can see how this relates to the Holy Spirit, Jesus, and the Father.

9. Fundamental, indeed, OM.
Another version, still in line with those WhiteTara and Ayeshahaqqiqa that I touched on in Angel Wings' http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=245x88546#88651

The Trinity in Gnosis - Christ and Sophia are syzygy, pairs of aeons (literally meaning the eternities) that are 2 of the aeonic beings that make up the fullness of God (Pleroma), the Unknowable Root. I guess, hence the Trinity.

From the Berlin Codex:

"Again, his disciples said: 'Tell us clearly how they came down from the invisibilities, from the immortal to the world that dies?'

The perfect Saviour said: 'Son of Man consented with Sophia, his consort, and revealed a great androgynous light. Its male name is designated 'Saviour, begetter of all things'. Its female name is designated 'All-begettress Sophia'. Some call her 'Pistis'."

18. Thank you all for your input
and these varied images of the trinity, the ancient stories... and didn't many different stories involve ("the Embodiment was kinda the point") embodyment, disembodiment, dismemberment, renewal, burial, rebirth, cycle of life....?
