2. December 21, 2012
That is date the alignment in the circle is supposed to occur. Does that date have any significance other than it being winter solstice in the northern hemisphere?
I am aware of the 2012 prediction in the Mayan calendar but don't know whether a specific date in 2012 is predicted to be the end per Mayan calendar. Anyone know?

4. I am currently reading a novel by Whitley Strieber
Edited on Thu Jul-17-08 08:30 PM by Hope2006
entitled "2012".

I have only read about 1/3 of the book, but, what I can say is that is it definitely of the horror genre. I am a slow reader because I have very little time to read.

The novel speaks of parallel universes, and, malevolent species that have taken advantage of their own superior knowledge, and, our own ability to love, etc.

Since Strieber purportedly had some encounters with aliens, I am wondering why he has written a novel like this.

I can't help wondering is he is trying to write about what he knows in fiction format.

Like I said, I haven't read the entire book, and, perhaps, the ending justifies the scenario that Strieber artfully establishes in the first 1/3rd of his book.

5. There's a movie coming out entitled 2012 as well
I don't know if it's based on Streiber's book or not. Alas, it's of the apocalyptic genre and stars my favorite guy, John Cusack. What was he thinking? He's usually such a sharp dude. :(

7. I haven't gone to your link as yet
but, I suspect that this movie is from the book I am reading. The story is apocalyptic. Very.

Not sure why I am reading it, but, I did like Streiber's earliest works, and, was hoping this would be more of the same.

In this, he is managing to make aliens seem very frightening.

Thanks for the input, MG!

10. That link didn't say, but this one says it's different
http://www.cinematical.com/tag/2012/

"Last spring, Michael Bay had also considered directing a film based on the book, 2012: The War for Souls by Whitley Streiber for Warner Bros. Emmerich's project, however similar it might seem, will not be using Streiber's book. Instead, his spec script was written in collaboration with Harald Kloser, who also worked with Emmerich on B.C."

So (ugh) that means too many people are seeing (the year) 2012 as a certain looming apocalypse...or at least will treat it as such to scare the bejeezus out of people. Whee. :eyes:

12. Thanks for this info, MG
Yes, I think 2012 is being capitalized on. Unfortunately, this is also an election year. I wonder how the repubs will use it given how they seem to rely on the fear factor to grab votes.

6. Years ago I read his book about his abductions. It was not nice experiences
Just like with humans not all people from away are the sort that would be wearing white hats in a western movie. Just because some people acheive exhaulted transendental states under abuse does not mean the tormentor is an enlightened being.

8. Absolutely agree
Whenever I have read about abductions, I have found myself getting angry because who are "they" to invade our privacy and subject people to what can only be described as abuse.

It has also made me think of the experiments we, ourselves, conduct on animals such as rats, cats, dogs, etc. Who are WE to think we have the right to subject our precious creatures to abuse.

It is unsettling to me to think that perhaps some types of aliens view us much the same way unenlightened people view animals -- as things to do with what they will.

9. Exactly! Look at how rare species of animals are studied
darted, forcibly blood and tissue tested, fitted with radio collars and then released for observation. Is this really any different from how the negative aliens are described as treating humans? Some may not be *intending* harm but they cause it all the same.

11. Your argument is one of the reasons that I don't eat meat.
Many people justify eating meat by saying that we're the top of the food chain because we're so intelligent, have more skills, etc. It would always pop into my head (even when I was quite young) that I wouldn't find it acceptable for alien beings to use that as their reasoning to use us as their food source, so I can't use it as mine.

I'm not judging anyone else who eats meat though. It's just my personal feelings about the subject.

And, it is something I will be giving some serious thought to concerning my own eating habits.

Thank you for this.

15. There are so many points of view on alien agendas-
Whitley Streiber and so many other accounts of being abducted and terrorized, and Dr Greer who says that the aliens he has come to know are of an ascended kind that are only benevolent. I can only guess, since I do not have personal experience, other than the shadow government harassment variety. Whitley Streiber's visits come during the night whether he wants them to come or not. Dr Greer and associates meditate, raise their vibration and call to them to come, so it is likely that you attract what is similar to your own vibration.

I do not wish to be prejudiced and assume anything until I have personal experience, but I am open to the possibility that since there are a variety of types of Earthlings, there must be a variety of off worlders. I think it would be naive to assume that all are peaceful or advanced, or that all are harmful and predatory.

16. I personaly believe there are both good intentioned and ill intentioned beings
In the vastness of the universe there surely must be more than one planet with sentient life and among those there will be a variety of intentions and actions. As you said just look at the wide variation in humans who are one species. Imagine the differences when you have literally different world views from different species of sentient life from different planets.

For many years now I have been working with a healing program that invites the help of beings from the Pleiades with good results. And this in spite of what happened to an aunt & uncle who were followed over and hour through the deep woods on back roads at they went home one night. No matter how many turns or how fast they drove they were followed. I can't imagine a kindly intentioned species stalking and scaring the heck out of other creatures that late.
