Who else here also felt a REAL forboding when * first came on the scene
I didn't even know much about *, but to the core of my being, I knew * was bad news. My warnings fell on deaf ears. I began posting messages to CNN and other websites. I have been fighting ever since, and thank goodness I finally found DU. I REALLY needed to be with like minded individuals.
So I ask you, did anyone else feel like a horrible shadow was about to take over our country?

1. Not me. I had read a lot of stuff about him from Molly Ivins.
I really thought that no one with any sense or maturity would take him seriously. That's why this has been so unnerving. While we were thinking we had a rational majority, they were preparing the kool-aid behind the scenes.

I feel like Alice. I have gone through the looking-glass after falling in the rabbit hole. Nothing is rational anymore.

Me too. Especially with the brothers involvement in the savings and loan fiasco. I figured (silly me) that the press would expose Neil and the family like they harrased clinton for roger, or carter for billy.
My thinking was full of shit.

2. Yes
first time I watched him on TV when he first started campaigning I got a very creeped out feeling. At the time I couldn't have begun to explain why I felt that way though.

3. Very, very much so.....
I was uninvolved in politics and elections most of my life, especially being an ex-at overseas, but when I saw the candidate to run for the Repub Party against Al Gore, I was electrified with a very strong sense of dark foreboding and fear....

I could do nothing to shake this gut feeling, and everything that has transpired since then has only reinforced my initial sense of "evil"....or at least of a "do NOT want to go down THAT road" intuition.

Now I can only hope for, work for, a strong counter-action of positive forces to rise up and defeat what this Administation represents....once and for all.

4. Yes.........when he first became governor of Texas. There was a real

dark cloud over how all that came about.

Then, quite unexpectedly I saw him and Laura coming out of a very wealthy person's home after some event (probably fund raising) in Austin, and we locked eyes for just a moment. I felt it in that instant....a chill, a sick, sinking feeling. Next time I felt that way was when he was running for president and I read that he was already being advised by some rightwing policy evangelist-type about auctioning off park lands. The story was quickly dismissed, but I knew then that we were going to be seeing things from Bush that, at least at that time, defied all probability or logic.

My mother, who was never particularly a political animal or very well informed, was at a gathering once in Houston and was introduced to Oliver North (well after the Iran Contra ordeal). He extended his hand and although she knew very little about him, she instinctively froze from the chill that went up her spine. She pretended to fumble with her drink and dismissed herself. She was very disturbed by the meeting and didn't understand why she had responded that way. She was clearly more tuned in than she would allow herself to know. I told her I'd have responded the same way if I had come face to face with the devil incarnate.

5. Oh Yes, yes, yes
The first time I saw him I knew right then and there that this was asomeone who was going to cause unbelievable tradgedy. After the November election I told my husband that thousands and thousands of people would die because of him and I hate to say it, but I hit it right on the nail.

And now I have this horrible feeling that it won't be long till another 9-11 will happen here, only this one will transcend what happen that day. The more I read about what's happening in Iraq and other places, the stronger the feeling gets.

My only hope is that, then, those who helped put him in the WH see the mistake they made and help get him out.

6. Yes...I thought "why are they running this moron?"
"Surely he can never win an election"...then as time went on a bit I realized that the "machine" behind * was gonna do **everything** (and I mean EVERYTHING!) they could to get their "puppet" installed......and if they wanted a puppet they had a pretty nasty agenda.....sigh....

I think the "shadow" started a lot longer ago than we were cognizant of looking back at the way things have gone....

and would not be fooled. Well, I overestimated many of my fellow citizens. And, if I may say it....

"Fool me once, shame on...shame on you....if fooled you can't get fooled again..."

I guess Mr. Bush's wisdom here was faulty. I got fooled by voters again.

9. Went into a tailspin nosedive here and found anti-depressants
for a while not knowing how to cope with all that I held inside and didn't want to truly feel.

Now I am at peace knowing that we can only do what we can do and we can't control others or the world. What we CAN do is plug-in, keep our engines warmed up and brighten the Light for all to gather under as people stumble upon the darkness they thought was Truth.

"Give me your huddled masses...." Keep those beacons shining bright and ready to throw those loving arms of compassion and healing around those who find their way back to the TRUTH!

about his foreboding AT THE TIME

It was an article meant in part to excuse him to his buddies who were going Nader - but he wrote that the danger from this is such that no other alternative is left to us but to oppose him by any means,

12. My first thought, when he was running in 2000 was, "oh god,
this guy is the antichrist, we cannot allow this to happen." I'm not exaggerating, and I'm not christian. But that was my thought.

I was never particularly political before. I started reading up and everything I learn about his actions and his minions reinforces that initial reaction I had.

movie where they open the Arc of the Covenant and the dark creatures start flying around causing mayhem. That was the first thing I thought, and I told a friend who laughed at me...

It turned out that image I had was true. It's been like opening a box containing the darkest things on earth which have consumed us with their evil. I've never gotten over that feeling. A Pandora's box...a box of horrors.

14. I don't know if it was psychic, but I knew when I first saw him
...During the 2000 Republican primaries that "Bush the Second" was bad news. But it was much less for any perceived notion of what evil he might bring, than it was my revulsion at the idea of a Bush dynasty, given his father's pretentious ideas.

I never though much of Poppy during his time in office. He just seemed like an arrogant, whiny old man who ran his mouth too much and wanted people to treat him like nobility, when he was actually little more than a common charlatan.

When I saw George, my thinking was "oh boy, here we go. He (Bush Sr.) got booted by Bill Clinton in '92 and so now he's going to run his sons for revenge. The 'honor' of the Bush family name must be restored!" That kind of bullshit.

I actually believe that Jeb was going to be their first choice to run for the Presidency, however. But he lost his bid for the Florida governorship the same year (1994?) that George won the governorship of Texas, putting George ahead and in position to run for the Presidency in 2000. Jeb won later, of course, in 1998.

I kinda wonder what would've happened had Jeb won in 1994. Would both brothers have competed in the 2000 primaries? What makes Jeb scary and the more likely contender is that he has all of the intelligence and charisma that George lacks. He may have managed to defeat Al Gore without having to fall back upon fraudulent elections.

16. I didn't, but a more sensitive friend did...

I mean, I felt like crap, especially as things dragged on and on; that in itself was already a sign that things were getting weird, of course. But I didn't expect him to be as staggeringly awful as he turned out to be, no. I suppose had it not been for 9/11, he might not have been so, or at least it wouldn't have been as immediately obvious. Certainly he would've had a harder time going after his bete noir, Saddam--no excuse. And we wouldn't have had Department of Homeland security, etc. etc. and the economy would still suck, but at least we wouldn't be pouring all this money into Iraq on top of feeding the top .001% of the wealthy.

19. I did. Absolutely. Even without knowing a lot about him yet.
And when he was "inaugurated," and went to that breakfast or whatever, and had the news conference with other Capitol Hill types and said "it'd be a lot easier to govern if this was a dictatorship and I was the dictator," I can still remember feeling the color drain from my face. It was a "something wicked this way comes" moment. I was FILLED with dread, and I didn't know why. And then I got angry because NOBODY in the media picked up on this or made an issue out of it. They were kissing his butt long before 9/11.

20. oh god yes, strongly.
and when my friends were laughing saying he wouldn't get voted in i steadfastly said this man will be your president, even against the people's choice, don't worry, he'll get in and it'll be a nightmare. even though all the politically savvy among us knew he'd be horrible for the nation as prez, i was pretty much the only one who knew he was gonna be installed in office, gut this country, and send it on a ride to hell. they laughed at me when i rapidly started work on my plan to become skilled and leave the country. now they aren't all that dismissive, but they choose to stay and fight. i realize i need capital to survive and fight, bush and his cabal are deliberately bankrupting us so we can't find the will to fight back readily. nothing but bad news.

21. Same here.
The moment I knew was after the election in 2000. The outcome was still undecided. Before the election, I didn't even know who George Bush was. I'm not kidding. Those were my busy years. I never watched much TV.

However, when everything was up in the air, I turned on the TV. There was a small clip of George Bush, sitting in an elegant living room with some family members. Poppy was sitting nearby. Bush II started talking. He was visibly pissed about the election results.

He glanced sourly over at his brother (Jeb) and sneeringly said, "Yes, and my brother took the brunt of it" (the voting furor)....his voice trailed off, he knew he shouldn't say anything more". He looked SO sinister, filled with anger and frustration.

I sat there, as if transfixed. I thought, "shit, what if he wins?".
Due to my ignorance of the whole event, this was my first introduction to Bush. Over the next few weeks, I was in a state of stunned disbelief. Was I the only one who sensed disaster?

As the months progressed and the US pushed for the war in Iraq, my disbelief turned to fear and fear turned to anger. I was seething. I started hunting on the Internet. Finally, after about 1 year of obsessively searching for ANSWERS, I stumbled upon the DU.

I instantly knew I was home. To my surprise, I discovered I wasn't alone. I learned so much from this site. I can honestly say that my life has changed (are you listening, Skinner?) for the better.

Unfortunately, the truth was much, much worse than I guessed. But I'd rather know what's going on than to be a brainless "BushBot".

23. When I look at his eyes, I feel there's nothing inside at all.
A feeling of emptiness, lack of soul - is that possible?

I feel he's more of an empty vessel into which others can pour their
own evil, rather than being intrinsically evil in himself. He's
just not smart enough to be truly evil - nasty, spiteful, petty,
but lacking the intelligence for great evil.

If anyone has ever read "The Dark Is Rising" series of books, he
would be an instrument of The Dark, but not the leader.

25.  When I first saw him, I thought he wasn't as bad as his Dad whom I loathe
Oddly enough, I thought , from what I read that he might be more liberal! Then I saw him for the first time during the debates and I thought he was feral and streetwise.I noticed that everytime Gore handled a difficult question, Bush said me,too! I was scared then as I thought my god, no one will be able to distinquish between them. Do you all remember how many people on both sides of the aisle in 2000 said they weren't voting for their party's candidate but against the other but they didn't see a difference? Nobody liked either candidate. That was one reason so many prominent Dems voted for Gore. After election night was when I got truly scared. I told my husband that if he was elected , we would be at war and the economy would tank. By the time of the SCOTUS decision I felt he was really evil. I went to bed for a week mourning what I said then and believe now was the death of democracy.
