Prayer, Light, and Healing Requests for October, 2007
Edited on Sun Sep-30-07 08:46 PM by KitchenWitch
Thank you for allowing me to coordinate this thread for the month of October. October for me personally, brings a very special anniversary, the anniversary of when I began my journey into recovery from addiction/alcoholism.

During this time of year in the northern hemisphere, the daylight hours diminish and the darkness is dominant. It is also harvest time, the time when what we have sown, both physically and spiritually, bears fruit. In my life, I have found that it is a great time for personal reflection. I ask myself what I have, what I want, what I can do without, and it is in these answers that I set a course for the next turn of the wheel's work. Because the darkness prevails, it can be a difficult time for many. For some it is extremely hard to believe the light is coming back, when all that exists is darkness. The veil between the worlds is thinnest at Samhain (October 31) when the souls of all who came before us are closest.

This is a time to honor those souls who have passed, time to let go of our past sorrows, and to prepare to celebrate the light's return. Let those things that are no longer useful to us fall away from us, and bring us opportunities to learn anew. Samhain is quite literally seen as the end of the old year in the Celtic tradition. So Happy New Year to all who read this, may blessings of the Universe find their way to you and yours.

Goddess, help us to remember, that though it is dark now, that light shall return. Sustain us through our life journeys, grant that we be healed of all that limits us. Help us to allow our limitations to fall away from us, just as the leaves fall from the trees, only to have new growth sprout up in its place. Help us to get to the place of our true positive potential, and to remember that all circumstances can grant opportunities to grow and learn. Help us to remember to be grateful for at least one thing daily and help us to keep the focus on gratitude, for from gratitude springs wonderful gifts. Help us to continue to be the light for others, especially when things seem bleak. It is in giving others hope, that we can receive all blessings. I ask this in accordance with free will and for the highest good of all. Blessed Be.

Disclaimer to comply with DU rules and to protect those who are healers and energy workers from liability: this discussion of alternative and complementary healing methods serves as a means to come together to discuss and share options, experiences and modalities of healing other than the medical model. It is in no way intended to take the place of mainstream medical care/tests. Members are advised to seek the advice of a medical doctor before experimenting with any alternative healing methods.

1. Thank you for this thread, KitchenWitch
I really like the prayer and, it is absolutely what I needed to hear right now. I am working on realizing my full potential (am looking for a much-needed job, and, the few interviews I have had were, I suspect, marred by a lack of self confidence). Also, remembering to be grateful for one thing each day is something I try to do, and, at this time, I needed the reminder.

Thank you!!

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.ph...

The news is not good.

I can only ask for a peaceful resolution because while I so badly want a happy ending to this story, I have to accept that my idea of a happy ending may not be what the Universe has in mind for this lovely couple.

So, peace for OMC, Stacey and their children.

15. I saw her post and replied there.
For some reason (I think because of her user name) I thought MrG and MrsG were a much older couple. I didn't realize he was so young. I'm not sure what took his life, but she is so terribly distraught, it's heartbreaking.

(I thought that was so sweet of OMC to take the time to reply to her post and comfort her.)

She obviously needs time to heal and I think it is healthy for her to mourn, so I wish for her the strength to get through each day and that she is able to care for her children during this difficult time.

9. Please pray for the city of Memphis
And for the family of University of Memphis football player, Taylor Bradford, who was shot and killed a mile or so from my house.

http://www.sportsnetwork.com/default.asp?c=sportsnetwor...

Memphis, TN (Sports Network) - University of Memphis football player Taylor Bradford was reportedly shot to death on Sunday night.

According to Memphis television station WVLT, Bradford was shot around 10 o'clock on Sunday night at a campus parking lot. Bradford got in his car but soon crashed into a tree. He was taken to the Regional Medical Center in Memphis where he eventually died.

Memphis officials canceled classes on Monday and put the campus on lock-down.

A confluence of different things here.

http://www.commercialappeal.com/news/2007/sep/30/x30bfe... /

Memphis city elections will be held Thursday, capping a sometimes heated campaign season. In fact, particularly in the case of the mayor's race, the word "heated" may be a bit of an understatement.

According to a poll conducted for this newspaper last week by Ethridge and Associates, 35 percent of the people surveyed believe the contest between incumbent Willie Herenton, Herman Morris, Carol Chumney and a host of lesser-known challengers has set back race relations in Memphis.

That's very disappointing if it proves to be true. At their best, elections should rally local residents around the common purpose of making life better for everyone in the community. However, the reality is that politicians, in Memphis as elsewhere, have discovered that the "divide and conquer" strategy often works in elections.

Some candidates have discovered they can win by simply mobilizing their base, their most hard-core supporters, rather than trying to broaden their message and reach out to as many potential voters as possible.

For some, sadly enough, maintaining harmony within the community seems a lot less important than winning.

Oh, yeah, the only surprise here is that it wasn't 100%. Our Lord Mayor has taken it upon himself to rile up his base with racist rhetoric. He actually might win because the other two candidates (neither of whom are great candidates, IMHO) are just about even with each other.

As if that isn't enough,

http://www.commercialappeal.com/news/2007/sep/27/memphi... /

The Memphis metropolitan area, after coming in second last year, tops this year's ranking of metro areas by the rate of violent crime -- homicide, rape, aggravated assault and robbery.

In 2006, according to crime numbers released by the FBI, the eight-county Memphis metropolitan area recorded 1,262.7 violent crimes per 100,000 residents, the highest rate in the nation.

Last year, the Florence, S.C., metropolitan statistical area had the highest violent crime rate in the country. Memphis came in second with 1,197 violent crimes per 100,000 residents. And that was up from 1,132 in 2004.

The Memphis metro area includes Crittenden County in Arkansas, DeSoto, Marshall, Tate and Tunica counties in Mississippi, and Fayette, Shelby, Tipton counties in Tennessee.

And thank you Kitchenwitch, for coordinating this thread.

21. Thank you for the lovely invocation, KW. I am asking
the readers of this thread to join me in focusing positive, healing energies on the drought-stricken areas of this country.

http://www.drought.unl.edu/dm/monitor.html

I live in North GA--in the area experiencing exceptional drought. Our trees, which were hard hit by a late spring freeze, are now suffering from drought-related stress, and many are dying. The lakes and rivers are at historic lows, and there are statewide restrictions on water usage. Please send love and light to this region. Thank you.

31. I will visualize a healing rain for drought-stricken
southern California. I like to visualize days and days of gentle, steady, silvery rain, instead of the torrents that fall so quickly and run off instead of sinking in. It's the kind of rain where you can sit outside on the poarch and read while your skin absorbs much-needed moisture.

35. My daughter could use some light
She has chronic constipation and it has been a very frustrating thing. We are doing all the medical interventions and things work for awhile, then they stop working. It has become a psychological problem now, more than anything, they have done x-rays, etc. to make sure that it is not anything physical blocking her from going.

She is 6 years old, and this is getting to be a very embarrassing problem for her.

I will certainly send light to your daughter, and I ask that all asssistance be given to her that is possible.

I hope that this saga in her life is over very soon; it's such an uncomfortable situation.

You've probably tried everything under the sun. However, just to be certain, have you ever tried giving her aloe vera capsules? The day afterwards can be a bit difficult (i.e., stay near a toilet), but it can be quite effective. (Seeing that you've been seeing a doctor, you're probably way down the road from this.)

Much light and love to you also!

46. I listened to this M.D. on PBS a few months back and she
explained the importance of lots of fiber and the prevention of constipation. This doctor created FiberSmart. There is another product that is in my husbands protein drink that is very effective. It is called spirulina. My granddaughter loves this drink. I buy it at our local co-op. Or if you live near a Whole foods. That is so distressing to hear. I also make apricots, and prunes. It is my moms favorite. I hope this helps.

Believe me I have tried.

I have the FiberSmart chewables, and she is very hit or miss with them. I am adding fiber to her apple juice, mineral oil to her chocolate pudding, and when she gets really stopped up, I have her on Miralax per her pediatrician.

She goes really well for awhile then she gets all backed up again.

84. What is she trying to hold in?
Or control?

I had (and sometimes still do have) this problem; and I realized it was partly due to the fact that I needed to feel in control of something about my life; and also that I was not expressing my feelings fully. As I have gotten into a better place; it does not happen as much. Of course there are also physical factors, but I firmly believe that it can be triggered by something one is feeling ro thinking.

Just an idea; hope no offense KW.

185. did they check for food intolerances and allergies?
While most often they cause the opposite problem in some it causes constipation. I have the opposite problem due to Celiac if I encounter even a trace amount of gluten. Some Celiacs have one, some the other, and some have no digestive symptoms. Since fiber can help both problems I often use inulin a natural fiber that has a faint sweet taste.

60. There is a really spirited older lady I met through this site.
We've spoken on the phone a bunch of times over the past several years.

She lost her son through abuse when he was in the military and she subsequently bonded with Cindy Sheehan.

Cindy refers to her as her surrogate mom. I just got an e-mail from her. She says she had a stroke and a heart attack and just got out of the hospital and will see a neck surgeon next.

Her screen name is azchela.

She could use some good vibes now for sure.

Thanks in advance.

The really sad thing is, as usual, that they're most concerned about no longer having health insurance. When will this country learn that we're screwing ourselves with the way that we handle healthcare. Everyone has the right to good health! x(

70. Not to whine,
because in reading this thread before I posted I found myself thinking and caring for all who posted here and everyone they posted about. Well I didn't find myself doing it because I knew it would happen, in sending little prayers of hope and success to you all I got off my self-pity and feel in a light, giving mood once again.

But Holy Dell have I had a rough day. But I only have these kinds of days once in a long while, like when I'm forced to call Dell Computers for help.

Please send the poor beleaguered workers of Dell some light because they must have these kinds of days every day.
They're so bound up in red tape and so limited by the measures that whoever their suits are dictate to keep them from helping ANYONE AT ALL.

Were I in that kind of job, you know, of keeping information hidden instead of ferreting it out, I'd get cancer. I just couldn't do what they do.

I got hung up on FOUR TIMES!! and only managed to get the information I needed after the 5th rep I spoke/chatted to let it SLIP. What did I need? A list of the types of authentication allowed when setting up SMTP service on a printer that's supposed to have a scan-to-email function. That list was not in the User manual and not in the knowledgebase and I don't have the printer, so no tech support for me.

But on the good side I did learn from the 2nd rep I spoke with, that Panama is very rainy and that's good, because they're planning to expand the canal by about a 3rd and installing a 3rd lock, the water that is used to get ships thru the canal is all sweetwater.

So again, I'm okay now but please send some light into the depths of Dell. I've been thru there a number of times and it's never a fun trip.

71. That's a pity.
I worked three years as a support tech. That was when there were companies in this country that provided this service. I worked for an outsource company. One of the largest contracts was Dell. They had the best reps in the office of 2,300 employees. The only issue Dell has is shipping quality control out of country. SBC did this for awhile. Since the outsource company gets money per call, and bonuses for short call times, it sure looks like they would actually be paying MORE.

Glad you made it out :D

Charlie is one of the reasons why I still play music. He is a staunch conservative Democrat (wishes The Big Dawg could run again) who has supported this female musician/singer in the worst of times. He's the kind of guy who will come rescue you in the most embarrassing auto situations even as he teases you about it. He is very loved by so many. This situation is very hard.

Laura's Dad made it out of surgery well and no news on Kaye's mom but keep those metaphysical cards and letters coming!

94. This is soooo minor compared with the other requests here
But I'll toss it out there anyway because my stomach is in knots and I've been having anxiety dreams about it--after weeks and weeks of not being able to go to class at my school (coven) for various reasons, I'm going tonight--no more excuses available. Could I get some good vibes to help deal with the negativity I might encounter? And also some guidance as to whether I should tell my elder tonight that I'm taking a break? (Interesting hint from my guide last night that I might want to get out because the school might be in danger of imploding in some way fairly soon. I don't know what to make of that, so I'm just keeping it in the back of my mind for now.) Thanks, everyone! :hi:

And of course LOTS of white light and healing and supportive vibes to everyone mentioned on this thread. May everyone easily obtain what they need for the good of all and harming none. Selah.

The Universe works in mysterious ways, no doubt about it--talked with my elder's half sister last week (the other one "on the outs") and we both agreed that we never, EVER expected to be strangers in our own coven. 113. Emergency request for an Internet acquaintance on one of my other message boards, who just lost her
baby after eight months of pregnancy. I have no idea what the circumstances were, and I am very shocked that this happened, as she had no health problems during the pregnancy, and in my estimation, they seemed to have a good, experienced obstetrician who was supportive of her needs and with whom she had a decent clinical relationship (solid pre-natal care, lots of communication; the family seemed to like the doctor and as far as I can tell, the mother was very responsible about the pregnancy the entire way through). It's hard to believe that this can happen in this day and age. Anyway, her first name is Cathy, and I think she lives in California, if that helps anyone visualize. I hope some of you will know what to do, but I am praying that the child is safely back on the Other Side, and that the parents have as much care and compassion as they need from friends and family during their grieving process.

119. All the light you can spare for my friend, Cathy, who is hurting re: the loss of her son,
Ethan. Apparently they are in Houston, not California. I was going to post her description of what happened, but I don't think that would do anything here except upset our posters, especially those who are parents. Long (and horrible) story short: after finding out the baby had died in utero, Cathy's doctors eventually had to do a C-section, and found a true, full knot in the umbilical cord. (Ethan's official "time of death" was listed as October 13, 2007, 3:10 a.m. in Houston, Texas, if that is of any significance.)

I feel so horrible for this mother and her husband. I hope all our light warriors will send healing energy to them.

138. Good news update

Charlie is out of the hospital. Amazingly, i just went out to dinner with him and some other friends. He is one tough SOB but he had some very tough people sending good vibes. ;)

He's not totally out of the woods, but to go from not knowing whether he would live or not to being out watching him eat a steak - in this short amount of time - is amazing given what was wrong. THANK YOU!!!!

Lara's dad is also home and improving, he was up and about this evening but tired. Kaye has been hard to contact as she is at the hospital with her mom no doubt but will update on that soon.

I was waiting til Charlie got out for sure to share this wonderful news and to thank you all and encourage you to keep on keeping on...

I really do love you all :loveya:

162. I request some light and energy for us.
To help us finish moving out and selling our house. My sweetie fell down and banged up his knee and wrist and he is not exactly a kid anymore. We still have a lot of stuff to box up and move, and extra stuff to sell in the house we're leaving. Two or three people (neighbors and another neighbor's parents) are interested.

We want a fair transaction for both sides and I know enough lawyers to do it without an agent. We're in Houston.

Namaste and thank you so much.

165. Several Requests
First, I'm worried about my diabetes. I've tried being better at taking care of it, but I'm not always the most organized. I see a new doctor tomorrow. I've had problems with my corns lately and my ankles. I ordered a new meter and it still hasn't arrived.

My kitty: I need to bury the ashes of my old kitty. When I think of him I think of my old cat. He needs me to be free to love him fully. I do love him, but I wonder if I need closure. I will be picking up her ashes on Saturday and I hope to get a chance to bury them.

Work. I'm looking for a full-time Federal position. It's hard to go from seasonal to full time.

Al Gore. Pray he hears the call (I think he hears) and decides to run. We need a real compassionate President.

Saturday will probably be pretty rough, but I think I may be able to pick up PItski's ashes before then. Hard to write the words, Pitski's ashes. As long as her body was uncremated and at the vets (long story) I could perhaps think that she was simply away. Now I will see visually that she has passed on, in body at least. I want to bury her ashes, not scatter them.

BTW, her previous owner now lives in the same building on a permanent basis. She never asked about her kitty after she gave her to me. But I fear she will say I neglected her or something. Pitski was 17 when she passed away due to kidney failure, and it was a struggle the last two years to give her fluids and food. Even still, I think it was the offbrand cat food that did her in. I gave it to her because it was cold, and I hoped to be able to keep her going until I got her some more vet food. She ate some and then went into a rapid decline. I went to work two days before she died, and I noticed that she didn't greet me at the door as before, and I couldn't find her. I found her sleeping under the Christmas tree on the table and she was very ill. I gave her fluids and hoped she would revive with sufficient hydration. But the next morning I didn't go to work, and noticed things were awfully silent. So I took her to the vet, and the next day she died there after they gave her antibiotics and fluid. Nothing worked. I paid for them to cremate her and just now I will get her ashes.

168. divineorder, it doesn't matter if the person with whom Pitski lived...
previously says that; you know that you treated Pitski like a member of your family. Please try to forget about anything that she might be thinking, and please try to forgive yourself for anything that you feel that you may have inadvertently done that might have had an impact on Pitski's health. You did the best that you could with what you had at the time. Even the Universe expects no more than that from us.

Yes, it definitely sounds as though you need some closure in reference to this situation. Please love yourself and realize that you took the best care that you could of your little friend. It was just her time to move on to the next leg of her journey.

You gave Pitski a very good life with lots of love.

I saw the doctor: I won't know until the tests come back, but to him I look fine. I haven't gained or lost any weight which is reassuring to me.

I won't be able to pick up Pitski's ashes tomorrow: I have to have a haircut and the person who I asked to accompany me is busy. Next day I have plans with my family. I would rather pick her up on Wednesday after I work on an upcoming paper (I'm in school, and I think I will need that day to grieve at least)

No answer on my job dilemma yet, but I hope to apply to something promising soon.

yes, pick up those ashes when you feel ready to deal with things in your own way and time. i know what it's like to put off something painful and have that hanging over your head. It's like a constant nagging guilt or something. Once you get Pitski's ashes you will feel a great deal of relief. This just seems to really be eating at you, but I bet confronting your grief will be a very healing.

(have to tell you my fat Tabby Biscuit just climbed up in my lap - which he rarely does when i am on the computer. he is sitting here purring away as i type, maybe sending a message in cat language to you, who knows :) There are more cats where he came from -we have a houseful and they are all characters for sure. i know you miss your boy and hope you find another to love as well)

You have a lot going on but you are holding it together well, school, job, health, pet loss. Hang in there divineorder!

Do you know if she's had her hormones checked? For me it was a byproduct of my thyroid problem and subsequent high blood sugar from the weight gain caused by the thyroid problem (yich what a tangled web)--once I got my thyroid straightened out and my blood sugar under control with the help of GREAT meds, the PCOS went away.

182. I could use some positive vibes
I had another job interview today, and, I think it went very well. Again, as as in other interviews, it was really four interviews, but the time went by quickly and I actually enjoyed myself.

One of the interviewers is the son of an old family doctor I used years ago when I lived on Long Island (this is at least 100 miles from where I live now). Small world! He, in particular, seemed to want to get to know me and our interview lasted far longer than the allotted 30 minutes.

I won't hear for a week or two. Meanwhile, any positive vibes would be GREATLY appreciated as I think I would really like to work for this company. I told them this, btw...lol!

Thanks All!

(...but I hope that this one is the one that's meant for you! :))

188. I am visualizing you happy in your new job.
I would light a green candle for you, but I currently not going to light any candles for awhile.

186. Some light for my coven sister, please?
Edited on Thu Oct-25-07 10:42 PM by MorningGlow
Her dad died suddenly this morning--I believe it was a heart attack. He appeared to be very healthy and was very active, so this is quite a shock. It's also doubly tough for her because she had a rocky relationship with him and just recently was trying to reconnect with him. Thanks in advance! :hi: (For the record, this sister is not one with whom I have issues--she's the half-sister of our elder and is also disenchanted with the coven--we have both seen ourselves doing work together in the future.)

Continued light and healing and support for all who have made requests on this thread. (Editorial comment: Day-um it's an active month!) Sincere wishes for everyone to receive the best outcome for all concerned and harming none. Selah.

192. Much love & light to your coven sister and her family.
May she still continue to reconnect and rebuild her relationship with her father now that he's on the other side. Maybe it will be even easier now.

I ask that all hurt that she is feeling is healed and she feels peace and love in its place. (This or something better for the highest good of all involved.)

I'm glad that you still have your relationship with her, MorningGlow. I'm sure that you'll be able to help her deal with this along the way and, in the process, your connection with her will strengthen.

195. That's a good point, Dream
About being able to talk with him better now that he's on the other side. I will mention that to her when I call in a bit (been giving her time with her family right now of course).

As for the coven "situation", my horoscope yesterday or the day before said there's more going on behind the scenes than I realize. I think the timing of my friend's dad's death is also part and parcel of her new life that's coming in the near future which also affects me/us indirectly. Hard to explain--I just feel like there's a "big picture" out there and she and I are getting glimpses of it now.

Thanks for your good wishes. :hi:

198. Oh my Gosh MG
Wow, when did this happen? L must be devasted. Poor L. Gosh, she definately didn't need this on top of everything else going on in her life. I suppose her sister (half) is no help. MG, L is Earth, she will raise above this tragedy. I know she will. She's strong, but still this is a real shock. Please, please extend my sincere condolences to her will you? You'll be there for her I know you will be. The rest of the coven probably won't be unless R says it's okay. God knows they wont go to a funeral home cause they weren't invited. ARRGHH!!

I will call you this week. Yes I am back to work and Yes the fight was with SR, of course who else would it have been. That SOB can push my buttons, can't he? ARRGHH!! :evilfrown:

I dont know what other person on this earth can push my buttons like he can.

Please give L my condolences for me.

199. BlueIris needs healing light. She is very sore from cleaning all the leaves from her driveway.
300 ft. driveway on an incline that goes 600 ft. in the air. All leaves gone. Took 2 hours. Everything huuuuurts. And the pain relievers aren't making a dent.

200. Reiki to you and all other request from another achy person
I helped take out my Nana's air conditions today. Actually did the lion's share since my helper was my Mother and I was worried she might get hurt since she has osteoporosis and really shouldn't even think about lifting things that heavy. I shouldn't either with some issues I have but I figure I am a heck of a lot younger and I will heal faster than my Mother. Time to reiki myself again anyways so why not share the health :-)

205. KitchenWitch, thank you for the Prayer Thread
I was not much around except in spirit this month.

What a month it was, and we sure were lucky and with all the hard work of the firefighters, light & prayers... I wish to express my gratitude.

and KitchenWitch, amidst all this, you have not neglected the thread :)

Many of us in CA lost homes and all, I wish them a wonderful new beginning, lot's of love and emotional assistance.

Light & Love to all who accept.

206. Prayers that I go home
I interviewed for a job Wed. before last and I am hearing through the rumor mill that I got it but I have not gotten a call yet. It would mean that I get to relocate on the company's dime and return to live closer to those in my support network.

I have been going through a tumultuous time with my boss this year and things have mellowed out a bit. While my family and friends keep telling me it's good that my boss has become more appreciative, I think that anybody who has been abusive in the past has the potential to be abusive again. It's like being in a bad marriage and thinking that things will change.

OTOH, while I am agonizing about not getting the news I am hoping for, my sister is telling me to chill out--that if it is to be, then it will be. Of course, she is right but a little white light in my direction couldn't hurt.

I would love to spend Christmas getting settled in a new home preparing to begin 2008 with a fresh start.

207. I am sending light your way, lll. I ask that the Universe help you to...
find work that you find rewarding with a company that values you in a place where you are able to get the support that you want. If at all possible, let it be the position for which you just interviewed. (This or something better for the highest good of all involved.)
