Bathwater purification.
If one doesn't have a water filter in place for the bathroom or vitabath de-chlorinating tablets handy, what can one use to purify bath water in general? We haven't had our water tested just yet, but for a few weeks it smells different, and I don't like showering with it, but bathing is needed and I don't want to soak in possible funkiness too long. Are Epsom salts or dead sea or Himalayan salts good to use? There are so many experts here, I thought I'd ask..

1. I take it you have a well?
Has there been a difference in your weather lately? Have you had excessive rain, or not enough?

We had problems with our well water during a drought in 1989. It smelled strongly of sulfur and something else. Often it was a murky color, even when we filtered it.

Another time, it turned dark and seemed to have a lot of dirt in it. We are not in earthquake country, but there was a mini trembler here just before that happened. We had to have the well dug deeper, and we got a new, heavy-duty water filtering/softening system.

All during this, the water tested safe.

You might need to have an expert look at your problem. Good luck!

4. Epsom salt will purify the water enough to bathe in?
I always thought it was good for purifying the body, but if ES is so good for so much, it makes sense.

3. Maybe a water filter like Brita may be more useful?

5. My well is polluted!
So is my plumber's down the road about 2 miles! We have granite under the 4' of blue clay river sediment. Very expensive to drill down deep through the rock and then there is a danger of having arsenic in the well! The pollution is giardia, bacterial, makes you sick.
2 years ago we had deep snow coverage, when it melted it flooded, at the same time my neighbor across the street, had the beaver pond in his back woods bulldozed.................prior to that my water was pure & delicious.? ( for the 18 years I had lived here.) I had the well top dug up & exposed, checking for cracks..none! Source of pollution a mystery! ( but beaver is a sourv ce opf the (I bought a Brita filter for the kitchen faucet, ( not pitcher filter, screw on the faucet thing.) I have to change the filter pack every 3 months..........new expense, no SS raise! At least it has a light that flashes green, when the filter needs changing, the light flashes red!
I WAS bathing in Quoddymist sea salt distilled here in Lubec Maine from Bay of Fundy water..........they have 8 seaweed/salt blends with different kinds of seaweeds. Rave reviews! My Mother is an RN.from early childhood I have heard the mantra "go put it in the ocean salt water is healing" for cuts blisters etc. ( we had a shore house)

http://www.quoddymist.com/cat.php?cat=16 QUoddy Mist is producing edible gourmet salts, but I won 2 jars as a door prize at the Gov's Conference a few years ago, hearing Mom's voice I just naturally poured in to the tub.

I sure do miss it now, because the hot water heater quit the other day, so I can't bath at all! Guess I will rig up a boaters shower;
sunheated, with the hose until I can afford to replace it. At least it's not winter!
