Using Venus Retrograde for fun and profit.
Edited on Fri Oct-08-10 07:42 PM by BlueIris
Hee, maybe not. But I've really been looking forward to this time, which I find coincides with forty or so days of the unusual, eccentric and bizarre. Being someone who likes that kind of thing, and being in the mood for something different, I'm excited about the changes this could usher in.

As Rick mentions in his astrology newsletter for this month, we have so much going on cosmically right now, Venus Retrograde may not even register for us. I also know that many astrologers don't think too much of Venus Rx, simply noting that it is a time for review of our relationships, monetary habits and other Venusian topics. Fine, everyone reacts to transits differently. In my own life, however, Venus Rx tends to make things...interesting. Sure, there's the occasional unpleasant side effect, (irritability can run high during a Venus Rx, and they don't usually do anything good for my mood) including difficulties in relationships or cash flow problems, but mostly, they're a great time for the following things:

--Getting in touch with old people/places/things, especially stuff we loved. "Blast from the Past" is a potential theme in any retrograde, I suppose, but I've had more memorable reunions under Venus Retro than retrogrades of Mars, Merc, etc.

--Indulging in and appreciating the unusual. Venus Rx is great for those of us who like the weird, the quirky. This is a great time for catching indy flicks or shows by garage bands.

--Interior self examination. More than any other retro, I think this one facilitates "going within" for answers.

--Preparing for a new phase in life. Since I made a hobby of studying Venus Retrogrades a couple of years ago, I was shocked to discover that every Venus Rx I looked at preceded a major shift in my world, something I cannot say of other retros, even Mars.

--Endings. If you need to break off a relationship, particularly a romantic one, um, er, here's your sign. Okay, not really. Obviously, we should use things like free will to determine when the best time to conclude things is, but I usually see at least one significant relationship or friendship end under Venus Rx for me or those around me. This is not to say this will necessarily be the case for anyone here, and I think an ending is more likely to happen under the retrograde if the situation was headed in that direction anyway, but I thought I'd mention the possibility.

--Buying cheap/buying something truly special (particularly if it's antique). In general, I try to avoid buying anything I don't absolutely need under Venus Rx. I've noticed, though, that it can be a good time to scoop up awesome bargains, as Venus Rx seems to motivate some retailers to flush out old inventory at drastic reductions. Also, I've picked up one or two items under retros that I really love, I think because this influence has the potential put us in touch with our inner or true desires more accutely.

So, bring on the Venus Retrograde, I say! This one takes place between 13 Scorpio and 27 Libra. As always, if you want to try to anticipate how it could impact your life, look at where you have these degrees of Scorp/Libra in your chart and what areas of life fall under the reign of those houses. And if anyone wants to see how Venus Retros have affected them (or not) in the past, here's a handy dandy table of the last 3,000 years:

Enjoy!

1. Thanks for this, BI
I have never noted Venus Ret. before--must pay attention to it this year. LOL can I cling to "In general, I try to avoid buying anything I don't absolutely need under Venus Rx"? Found out today that Saab is going to be reimbursing Mr. MG for a repair that turned out to be a defect they're covering for all owners of that particular model. He called dibs on it for a new TV--something we do NOT need AT ALL. (I did a wifely override and said we needed it for repairs to my car. :P )

2. Of course you can cling to that maxim. Additional note:

Venus Rx is not good for resisting impulse buys, which may be what is inspiring hubby to go, "We need a new t.v...NOW." I have a closet full of dusty, unused crockery from a shopping spree in 2004 which took place under a Venus Retro in Gemini. Man that crap is ugly.

3. Ah, that would explain it!
He totally took me by surprise--had NEVER mentioned wanting to get a new TV before! (This one is only 5 years old but it's relatively small, 36", but we don't need much more than that.) He must be succumbing to the impulse urge.

LOL on the crockery. I do that with clothing.

4. Oooo, bargain!
I popped into DSW for the heck of it yesterday and found a gorgeous pair of shoes, but couldn't find a price. I figured I couldn't afford them, but I asked anyway...70% off. Last pair, my size! So, since they were soooo cheap, I bought a second pair that I normally would have put back. :)

5. Nice. My issue this retrograde has been getting to the bargains in time.

Yesterday, I got to a store literally an hour before a really cute Halloween decoration I've wanted for weeks had disappeared from its shelves, one that looks like it's going to be a bear to reorder.

6. Boy, did I read this one wrong.
As Rick predicted, most of the time, I haven't even noticed this transit, except for a couple of nice surprises amidst all the other crap (my favorite coffee place still has a kiosk in PDX.)

7. Hm!
I wonder if Venus retro is to thank for the wonderful times I've been having lately with my best friend of 35 years, after months of not really being able to connect despite dealing with similar elder care situations and living, at least for now, in the same city. We've just been having a blast together.

Whatever, I'm grateful.

8. Probably from Jupitere hanging out on your midheaven
especially if it's a repeat of 12s, 12 years ago, 24, 36, etc.
Jupiter is 1 degree from your MC right now

have fun!

10. I can SO relate ...
... 'Getting in touch' - an old flame/good friend that I'd lost contact with a couple years ago found me on Facebook this week
... 'interior self-examination' - I continue to read, research and attend group meetings re: my ACOA issues
... 'preparing for a new phase' - my dr. recommended an ablation and tubal this morning, which means HELLO MENOPAUSE!!
... 'endings' - I think I am finally ready and able to mentally move beyond the disaster-relationship I was involved in over summer.

And, oddly, I'm ok with all of it! Don't know why this round isn't sending me into a corner with my blankey, but ... I really feel like things are on a positive turn.

O8) Hope they are for everyone else, as well! O8)
